ATTGAT Question: Do you wear a helmet on a bicycle?

Depends where I'm at. If I'm on the road on my road bike then yes, but if I'm on my beach cruiser strolling around in the park, I'd prefer the gangsta look.

Scares all the white people :laughing

Gangsta like this....

I race bikes when helmets were optional. I always wore one and still do. And gloves. I hit a rock at 40 mph plus going down Mt. Tam in the eighties. Fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk The roadrash was really painful and even more so when it got infected.

I do now, because I make my kid wear one. Prior to that, I didn't wear one, but I also rarely rode a bicycle as an adult.

I had a Captain Spandex yell at me in our neighborhood once because I wasn't wearing a helmet. I asked him if he wore a helmet when he jogged. He said, of course not. I then I asked him if he jogged slower than I was riding, which the answer was of course no, but he stammered about assuming I would ride faster later, blah, blah. I just laughed and told him to shut the fuck up.

You sure showed him!

Nowadays, I always wear a helmet when I bicycle.
Been even thinking of getting gloves too.

I'm tripping out, it feels weird not wearing a helmet.

BTW, I'm not wearing my Arai on the bicycle.
I wear a Bern.

I was looking into one of these for my urban bike. They get hot though right? Not a lot of ventilation. I bought one to use for both urban and road cycling. My 2+ mile ride to the gym I rarely wear my helmet. Probably should wear it more .

Un-believable...All the helmets out there, with all the spaces for air flow, and all the riders using them, and you come up with "they get hot though right?

One thing I've noted about a lot of new riders--or people who usually don't ride bikes, and have started again, like every fall here at Stanford--is that they don't properly buckle the chin strap. If it's not snug, the helmet can move on impact--and depending on the angle of impact, can be rendered completely useless.

Of course, one of the stupidest things you'll ever see is someone riding a bike with their helmet hanging from the handlebars. And that will do what?

Helmet, gloves, and other clothes :p

by far I've had my worst injuries on a bicycle - broken femur, bad roadrash

True for me also.

2 weeks after walking away from destroying a race car in T10 at >130 MPH at Sears Point, I smashed myself to pieces at <20 MPH in Redwood East Bay Regional Park.

I was medivaced out with, amongst other things, a separated shoulder (with all rotator cuff ligaments severed), chipped spine, multiple broken ribs, snapped clavicle and severe concussion. I was wearing a Giro lid which saved my life :thumbup

I wear gloves while cycling or skateboarding. I don't go very far or very fast though.

If I was to do a Mt. Bike ride I'd wear my helmet.

lol me too. Fractured wrist, fracture pelvis (separate accidents), varios degrees of road rash....

Ride to the corner store- maybe no helmet.

Commute, anyother ride, helmet and gloves. I have seen some very nasty cuts on other people.

The way I ride I SHOULD. I was actually considering a Bern.
