I was a day late and a dollar short when I was in Alaska last year, the night after I stayed in Fairbanks everyone was posting amazing shots. Still on the list of things to do before I croak.
I first saw the Aurora Borealis back in 1981 while soaking in Lava Hot Springs southeast of Pocatello, Idaho. Or as the locals say, Poc'tella. I'd been skiing all day at Pebble Creek with my sister, and we were on mushrooms so it's possible that the lights were not as spectacular in real life and they might be in my memory. Nevertheless, it was a pretty sublime experience all the way around. I'd love to see them in Iceland or Norway someday, the land of my people.
Work emails were blowing up yesterday with “SPACE WEATHER ALERT!” Glad I was home. I heard there was some comms and ACARS problems for the dudes and dudettes up north.
