Most awesome school field trip to Cooks Shootout. Why did I not get this type of a field trip when I was in school:afm199

Yesterday the Cook Shootout hosted several classes from nearby Salt Lake elementary schools. Each year local schools are invited to participate. Two busloads of kids converged on the pits and enjoyed lengthy presentations by Mike Cook, Eva Hakansson and R. J. Gottlieb. Eva is a PHD candidate and she was perfectly at home showing the kids how an electric vehicle can be as fast as most race cars. Charismatic R. J. showed kids the details of his Big Red Camaro before they all jumped in the buses for a ride down the track. It didn't take much to convince the kids that the buses were racing each other and they cheered mightily every time one bus would pass the other. No speed records were broken, but the kids had a great time and they all left with souvenirs and speed certificates.
