I have an 04 CBR600RR and I have been ATTEMPTING to install a bar-end mirror (CRG) but have failed horribly:(

The 2 clip deals are now broke off :thumbdown #1 you can see... It should have a "lip"... the #2 (above which you cannot see) is like #1 :( I tried to do it the correct way by "pinching" both clip lip things then slide out, but they just bent and snap'd off after a couple attempts:thumbdown
Ya'll got any ideas on how to remove this thing? :twofinger

Did you have a set of snap ring pliers? But at this point I would say try to pry it out. Maybe you can get under with a thin screwdriver and pry up enough to grab with some vise grips. If I think of anything else I'll chime in.

stop!!!!!!!!!!!!!! abort!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you're about to cause yourself a huge pain in the ass. seriously. the bar vibrates way more with out the long weight in it (which your pictures shows just the end of it). don't remove it. simply cut half the length of the collar off of the bar-end mirror (not sure if the crg has the collar like the Ap's). then just use the stock bar-end screw it hold the mirror on.

No:(

Oh jam one flat head screw driver at one end and then another and push together. Maybe it will pop loose.
I tried that already... No dice homie...:thumbdown

Saying cut the "grip"?
I already tried useing the stock bar-end and just kinda folded over the grip (as you see in the picture) and the bar end AND the mirror just spun in circles... It was "on" but at freeway speeds I'm sure the weight would flip it (the mirror) upside down. Am I tracking you?

I'll post some more pics here in a sec...

if you're trying to use this:

skippy is saying that removing the weight inside the bar is the wrong way to go. you'd be better off chopping off the sliding wedge dealio from the CRG adaptor, and bolting straight to the weight inside the bar

if the weight is spinning, i'd try epoxy on the end where you took the pic of broken tabs, or roll that grip back a little way and drill a little hole through the bar and into the weight. there will be a burr created that might be enough to prevent spinning, if not push a pin in there, or fill that hole with epoxy and let dry

Hmmm... Running to garage... :later

ALMOST DUURR!:teeth:thumbup It still spins freely (even after I cut some of the screw off X3... ~ lil under 1/2 inch took off screw total)

Where to put the epoxy so as to not ruin anything too much in case I need to remove/replace?

PIC#1 Blue will just touch the weight Red will touch the handle bar its self
glue-1.jpg

PIC#2Green is where the bolt goes into the slot and would secure it to the bar-end deal
glue2-1.jpg

PIC#3Yellow Gob the shit outta it...

if the weight is spinning, thus allowing the adaptor to spin, put epoxy where you made the yellow turd in the last pic

if just the adaptor is spining relative to the grip/bar/weight i'd cut up a bicycle innertube and make a rubber washer then honk that screw down really tight so nothing is permanent. you could bond the screw to the adaptor like you have in #2 also. put REMOVABLE loctite on the threads when you install it tho, hell do that for any situation

strait copy cat .......:twofinger ....jay i hate them you should have asked i would have traded you my mirrors for a 40 of old E maybe some 211?:rofl

holy crap .... check it out ... If you remove the grip or throttle assembly ...you will see two holes, one on each side of the bar... Find something that can fit inside and press them together, While you do this do a swoop motion ..This will cause the weight to slide out .... you really dont need the tabs you broke ....This is the way ive removed them all the time... If you have a hard time ..bring it to Tech day and i can give ya a hand
