Barf Baja 2016 - The ride begins!

I am sending my best to my baja friends. remember several of you have promised to eat those sopas in mulege for me. :drool

I wish I could be there. Hopefully next year. :)

and the prawns please eat the prans.

Mark, we had a little rubber boat packed this year that would have accommodated a few of you all fishing. It was going to be a surprise :cry

That sounds like fun! It would be fun to coordinate a half day of fishing when we are down for a day where ever that may be in Baja next year.

I am quite jealous! With real life closing-in wasn't going to be ready for this trip anyway - so next year it is.

Keep the pics and commentary coming you guys - I'm living vicariously through your posts! :thumbup:teeth

Looks like the NWT guys are hauling ass to Mulege today via the more um, pedestrian route.

The top end on the KTM went boom yesterday evening. I was planning on doing the top end after this trip, given that I have a bit over 15K hard miles on it. Guess I should have done it before the trip. The good news is that it happened near town and Scott towed me back to the hotel. No big deal, as my insurance is going to cover the tow. Still a great trip!

Bummer Aaron. Are you going to hang in Mulege or just got to BOLA load up and come home?

I'm en route to BoLA in the tow truck now. Depending on what Dima wants to do, I'll either boogie out tomorrow morning or wait for him to get back.

That sucks Aaron..

Hey Aaron,

Sorry to hear about the 690, if there was anyone else heading down I'd send you a back up DR350 to finish out the ride.

I dunno if you follow Mark Sampson "Bigdogadventures" but he had a recent ride report with a quote that made me chuckle:

"I brought 2 bikes. A 2014 KTM 690 and a Yamaha WR250R to ride when the KTM broke down." :laughing

I've been debating whether I keep the Husky 630 or the DR350, maybe I oughta try to keep both :p

Be safe getting back,

Alex

That is a bummer...Well, now you can add that to your list.

Almost commented in your thread on that subject... Husky is a great bike, just as the KTM is a great bike... But as much as folks try to paint them as reliable, they just aren't going to have the longevity as something like your DR350.

I also have a DR350... Plated dirt model with the late dirt forks/shock etc. Plan to freshen it up later this year, and take it on some very long dual sporting trips. Maybe I'll go cross country and sneak into the 2017 BARF Baja trip. Always wanted to ride in the desert... :cool

Excuse the thumb in the corner.
