BARF community: pay it forward

I've met some of the best people in my life through BARF, and all of them have been generous to me with their time, patience, and even their stuff. tzrider is one of my best friends in meat space and has spent hours mentoring me on the finer points of motorcycling. Hooli once came all the way out to Livermore and helped me install some parts on my bike for damn near nothing. Connie of course is on everyone's list... what a gal. She's loaned me her trailer a couple of times for track days, and one time she even let me borrow her truck, which was truly generous given its importance to her. wstick1 has opened his garage to me on numerous occasions and helped me get my bike back together after I wrecked it on Mines back in 2007. metrorollah and a couple of others tended to me and my motorcycle after that same crash and called me some help and a tow truck. Stan23 was kind enough to vocalize his opinions about my riding that led up to that crash and give me the attitude adjustment that I needed to survive as a rider. Mortifer for letting me continue to participate on his group rides even though I crashed more than once with them. I owe thanks to everyone who helped sort me out in my early squid years. Even Z3n for simply pointing out that my chain was loose when I was still just learning the basics on my mom's old bike. flying_hun and jdubau for accompanying me on some of the best damn roads in the state. It's been about five years since I joined BARF, and I just want to express my gratitude to the community that has nurtured me as a rider for all those years. Thanks BARF!

My shout outs start with the amazing party squad of Cat, Pete & Benzo who are the power behind the delicious and generous dinner events that forge a strong bond among the SF rider community, and an extra big shout out to Cat for making her world famous R1 available to those in need. Big thanks to Farah and Roundboy and their minions that make Sloshball happen. Another gem is the wonderful couple Motoproponent and Mrs. Moto for the Sausage Party, another BARF must-attend event.
Ride leaders such as Kurt, Tom and Rick, and the others behind the well-organized and coordinated rides; we are very lucky to have this much riding experience making these events happen. :ride
No list is complete without Connie and her amazing army of rescuers ready to take on the huge hassle of retrieving ailing riders and bikes. Huge kudos!

With my school/work schedule the way it is, I don't have much time to actually go out and hang and ride with the BARFers. Even still, Connie and Aaron were there to help me get my busted bike off the road and towed home after I crashed it. And all the feedback I got from me Crash Analysis thread afterward (especially the posts and PMs from GaryJ and CanyonRat, which I must have read a hundred times) were incredible in their insight and the genuine concern with which they were written.

And BARF as a whole, for showing me the greatness that can be felt by just getting on a bike and hitting the road.

There are so many people I want to meet on here. It's a great community.

At the risk of leaving some folks out, here goes:

  • NoGall for being the BARFer who made this whole place a little less scary when I was new to it
  • HalfWing & Kato who between them hosted the first BARF group rides I went on, and who were my introduction to BARFers in meatspace
  • Baptistro who continues to educate me on the subtleties and nuances of all that is teh BARF
  • Planegray for being such a solid person - yes, greatest person in history!
  • Budman who sets the tone, who loves the ride and the riders and is the model of generosity and kindness at the chewy caramel center of BARF
  • To all the folks who helped out with that crash on one my rides on 36 last year,; Banjoboy, Ogg, hypergirl, planegray, Unicorn Power, SIN, and whoever else I may have left out who helped get the rider help and get his moto recovered
  • To dtrides & Banjoboy who made my bike ride-able after I crashed it last fall up near Quincy so that I was able to ride it home.
  • To Aaron, Will, Henry and others who took good care of me when I was in a bad way after that crash - I am deeply obliged
  • To any and all BARFers who've been willing to following me down silly roads here and abroad :ride
  • To all my BARF friends who make this such a warm place, who are fun, and funny and caring.
  • Lastly I have to thank Aaron (Bonerov) for thinking that I have any motorcycling advice for him :hail

Really feeling the :love after the rally and last night's meet. :teeth

Not exclusive to BARFers at all, but I just try and pay-it-forward every opportunity I can. Just trying to make sure I have enough good karma on my side for every time I'm on my bike. Can never have too much good karma on hand as a motorcyclist, you know?

D'awwww BARF love. Like Melissa, I have SO MANY to list. My first thoughts go to Hooli for getting me to join BARF, and Vicky (mrtnz) for introducing ALL the newbies at the SF Meets at Family's oh so long ago. Steveco and Budman for hosting the biggest, longest-lasting party EVER. And, honestly, PistolPete, the BARFer I fell in love with, who puts up with all my crap, and helps out behind the scenes at all the dinners, parties, and events I plan. Man, now I'm all teary-eyed. BIG HUGS to you ALL!!

Darn it! :mad

I forgot to mention Nonsequitur. When I was getting the run around while trying to file a police report so I could start a safety transfer for my son Jack stepped up, cut through the bs, took the report and got it approved. This was after numerous calls to the school safety officer and a visit to the Bayview police station where I was told they wouldn't take the report since it was the school officer's jurisdiction.

My love and appreciation goes to so many because you share my love of the moto and good people. This path has given me a richness in my life that I never expected and a 1000 new friends to name just a few. Plus it gave me the chance to share my love of the.moto and views with the state of california in a way that is just cool.

Love budman style to you all. :ride for life.

I've loaned barfers my motorcycle, my truck, my labor and my time.

I've borrowed motorcycles, trucks, cars and love from barfers.

no names, you all look the same to me.

:wow you've borrowed love?!? Sounds drrrty. ;)

^ Oh yeah, it's never ever true love until you give it back.

A month ago I helped a bicyclist that crashed on Woodside.
Saw him down around a downhill sweeper, parked my bike gave him water and reminded him to stay of the road.
Bicycle was wrecked.
He asked for a ride to his car, he had a bicycle helmet on ... good enough.
So I had this 6' 4" giants spider ride on the pillion.
His bicycle shorts poking into my Rev'it. :rolleyes
Must of look ridiculous and was slightly embarrassing , but he really appreciated the help.

Karma karma karma...

Barf was the first group ride I ever went on. I have posted several times how this group that I rode with helped me learn how to ride safely and have fun.

Can't say enough good things to even describe how grateful I am. :thumbup
