BARF FTO Program

The guy, who with a straight face, says some douche is "only a person of interest" when everyone and their dog knows the guy is a suspect.

Person of interest = Suspect

For some reason there has been resistance to using the term suspect as of late.

For some reason I thought he was recently promoted. I may have my wires crossed.

The important part is that he never says hello here anymore.

:cry

OH ABSOLUTELY!

And, since my motor days I have learned to use a pen, paper and big words...three of the scariest things around to a motor-cop....:teeth

Did you learn how to break leather? :rofl

The only thing I learned how to break was wind while still seated in the saddle and riding around looking at how good I looked in all of the mirrored windows.

And in thinking about the "big words" comment I should explain.... small boxes on citations, so motor-cops only learn words that can be spell with 3 letters or less.... They can copy big or longer words from a license, but after that... words of 3 or less letters.

Brn=Brown
Bln-Blond
spd= speed or speeding depends on overall context
exc max spd= Exceeding maximum speed limit
uns ln chg= Unsafe lane change
uns rg trn- Unsafe right turn

and it goes on from there....

So any words more than 3 letters are big words to a motor-cop and can prove challenging when they have to actually read them....

Paper... as far as motor-cops know paper comes in one size, citation size... so again, anything diffferent can be challenging....

And it goes on from here...

Do we actually have a PW thread in the LEO forum...?

PW?????

But, in any case Budman... we are just trying to explain to the masses about the difficulties you are faced with trying to get a motorcycle police officer in and up to speed as a mod.

We wanted to let you to know that we feel your pain.....

As a retired motor-cop from a hell-hole in So Cal.... I know first hand what you are faced with.....:teeth

Understand... The whole barf mod deal is a little... Little different eh?

All good though... No worries.

Yes, I do understand what you are saying....

But come on now... the part about the big words and 3 letters... that was funny stuff.... and I am sorry to say, kind of true..... when I wrote "Brown" for this post I think that is the first time in 12 years that I have not only used 3 letters for the word....

Sgt Hurd is an asset to Bay Area Motorcyclists, with his finger in many more pies than just Barf. He represents at the state level for motorcycle safety, and I think is responsible at least in part for the 'Look twice for motorcycles' overhead sign messages for example.

He probably is sick of the bashing and crap on Barf (which has died down now it is winter again) however if he has gone the way of MM4L it will be a big loss to us.

No doubt he is still pulling many strings in the LEO and legislative world where motos are concerned however.

John is an awesome guy and riders, his community and BARF appreciates him for what he does.

Are we done stroking the Sarge yet?

WOW.... thanks Rel... I was starting to get a little throwup feeling from all of that stuff....

I guess the next time I see John I guess I will have to pay more attention because I sure have not seen all of that stuff... yet.....:teeth

Two. Seems like yesterday I was just putting the uniform on for the first time.

In our motor/traffic division 3/4 of the motors had 4+ hash marks, needless to say not an FNG friendly environment. We were all trained as Recons and in commercial vehicles also.... this was back when there was lots of POST money. So there would be lots of people coming around to ask questions when a few of the motors were parked at the station. Every time a new guy came back into the office and there were 3 or 4 of us there... it was not pretty....

New Guy, can I ask a question
motors Sure
New Guy asks question
motors... what the hell kind of question was that? Do you know we were all doing police work when you were still walking around in your daddy's nuts and you ask that kind of question..... get the F out of here...

The look on young faces when we did this was priceless....

OF course the LT or the SGT would come out of their office shaking their heads, we would start laughing and answer the question.....

It was more-more back in those days... the more hash marks the more you could get away with.....
