Barf Sponsorship for the Cal 24.

Thanks for the interest..!

I had no idea so many barfers went for the glory of the Cal 24.

:smoking

My Cal 24 Experience was unlike anything else I've ever done on a motorcycle. It's one hell of an adventure!

This looks awesome, wish I could take part in this but I know I'm not ready to take an undertaking of this caliber. Perhaps next year, best of luck to all those that enter and if we place in the top 5, that'd be awesome.

I nominate Bronto!!!

That guy is hardcore.

I would apply, if there was a decimal point, between the 2 and the 4.

I'm honored, thanks :thumbup
I must decline it's a timed trial ride and I stop to smell the flowers too often to be competitive.
Besides I start to hallucinate around 700 miles :wtf

Heh Lefty you'd be good this ride. It's nearly a non-stop very long ride, takes all day and night, there's a Motel at the end :laughing
Seriously you can do it :teeth
Be kewl BARF creates it's own version of this ride, something less endurance oriented.
RocketBunny would made easy work of this ride. Darn, She moved out of State.

I know how AndyM could get in the top five. One word catheter. :green :laughing

Suggestion sponsor Five riders at $160 each. What to you call a motel room filled with BARFers ? nasty :party

Not really looking for the responsibility of being sponsored, but this sure looks like fun.

The cal 24 might be called an endurance ride but it is as much about route planning and strategy as riding. It is not a simple long ride with a few checkpoints sprinkled in.

As for sponsorship I say un-ban Bad Kitty and sponsor her :shocker. She would bring much excitement and controversy and generate a lot of interest.

She's not banned on SBR yet. Maybe she should represent them instead although I didn't know she could ride farther than the local *$. I guess you learn something everyday.

She can ride??? :wow :rofl

A friend of mine sent a picture of his tshirt from the first instance of this rally; the Bite The Bullet event.

WOW...you guys crack me up. This event is always a good time for everyone involved...except if you ride a BMW and the rear drive goes out....j/k. I have not heard from Mark Crane or my father, Tom, if the the proceeds are still going to the School for the Infant Deaf or it there is a new sponsor. I will clarify that and give you all an update.

I have not seen one of these shirts in a long time! BTW, nice grouping.

I've started a little early on the rally prep and have already picked up a pretty neat rally-friendly gadget this morning:

http://www.findmespot.com/

It will allow friends and family to track the bike while underway; the device sends up gps position information every 10 minutes, which they can view right on a google map interface. It doesn't rely at all on the cell phone network, it uses satellites for the uploading as well, so it works pretty much anywhere. If you need help en route and are out of cell phone range, just press the help button (for friends/family to know you need help), or 911 button (for emergency responders to get to you ASAP).

People have been looking for something like this for years, and services like Startraxx provided some of this, but this is so much less expensive, and convenient, that I think it may be a standout product. I'll be playing with it over the next few weeks to see if it lives up to expectations.

Nice! We would be able to track your position play-by-play :thumbup

Cool.. The Cal24... That's around 1000 miles? or 16-18 hrs of riding to do in 24hrs? heck.. there's time to sleep!

Nominate me!!! I'll ride it.. my last documented LD ride was the IBA 50cc(50 hours coast to coast) in 04.

EDIT.. oh shit.. I forgot.. that was in 02.. I just looked it up.

I'm planning on riding the Cal24 but I'm not asking for sponsorship... I'll defer that to more qualified individuals (AndyM and Aciurczak).

But, If you want to sponsor my ride to Cabo in march... I'll be glad to wear a sticker or accept some $$$ in the "feed the KTM" fund.

If it was only riding involved you could do it in 16-18 :shhh :rofl..

I'll second the nomination for Ironbutt :thumbup.

A 50cc ride is on my list for 08 :ride.

If only! Keeping average speeds (including stopped time) above 43 - 45 mph over the 24 hr period is not trivial; only a very small portion of the route will likely be on interstates or equivalent. You can count on 16+ hrs of the riding to be on smaller twisty roads, which doesn't leave much time to make up on the higher speed roads. Don't plan on having enough time for more than 1 or 2 20-minute naps, it's unlikely any finisher will have enough time for more and still complete the rally. From what I've seen, most folks don't nap at all through the event.

If you guys have done this ride before, you know that Tom and Mark will not have you ride highways...most of the ride will the in the twisties, and the toughest section in the middle of the night! I like to help out with the route planning so ill know most of the route head of time if not the check points!
