Basic Riders Course on Living Social

I hope "Jonathan" has some good liability insurance if he's going to be teaching people:

•Engine Braking
Lane positioning
Riding in traffic
•Proper Parking
Lane Sharing :wow
•Highways and Twisty Roads
•Lane Positioning
•Road Awareness and what to watch out for
•Slow Speed Balance
•And More!

It seems that he took his MSF RC cert and started a business outside the MSF's curriculum. That's not a terrible thing, but it sounds a bit hokey.

that's some bs yut ugh action

All of that in 3 hours too :applause

If it were me all over again, I think I would prefer to pay the full $250 for an MSF approved course for the classroom day and 2 range days instead of $115 for 3 hours.

will it count as the physical skills test portion of the DMV test?
will it get you a discount on insurance?

Doubt it, unless there's a certificate of completion.

No, all those quoted items are for the intermediate lesson. The LivingSocial deal was for the introductory lesson.

The deal doesn't even imply that those things are part of the introductory lesson. I think FoolishMortal was just pointing out other things that this same instructor teaches (and would need a mammoth liability policy for).

Yep. A much better deal than a short 3 hours of lots of info crammed into a very short period of time which would be very hard to assimilate.

that's definitely not a $250 value (I assume they compare themselves to MSF's pricing)
- only just 3 hr
- does not counted for DMV riding test
- requires a damage deposit

Not if he thinks he's going to impart all that knowledge AND do some riding in only 3 hours. (Note that he says "don a helmet".....)

Oh, methinks I now note just a hint of sarcasm in your post. (Better late than never.)

Hey guys. I'm giving flying lessons for fixed-wing and rotary wing aircraft. Class is only an hour and it will cost you only $150. dollars..! I'll even give you a 15% discount if you mention barf. Oh. But you have to bring your own aircraft..! Call this number to enroll: 1-800-bullshit :thumbup

Oh guys relax. He's just teaching a quick course on how to ride a motorcycle. Can be very helpful if you thought of getting one, yet have never ridden one. Riding for three hours will let you know if you like it or not, as most people of interest want to know. It's cheaper, and less time consuming. Just a little taste of it.
There is no certificate of completion that you can send to the DMV to waver the physical test. So what's the big deal?

EDIT: Checked his site out too. He's a rider coach for the MSF course. This is individual training. Beginniner course, intermediate, and so on. I think it's a great idea even for somewhat experienced riders to get one on one training with a certified instructor. Also, a motorcycle license is required when riding on the street in the more advanced course.
All the hate baffles me. There was no information on this being a "substitute for MSF".

I am not concerned at all about the course or the guy. I am sure one will get a good training.

What concerns me is a "deal" detail where they say that the value is $250 but based on my estimation of MSF price and detail - it's overvalued. I see that a lot of these "deals" on the site like that are not actually a "deal" but more the way of advertising thru the network.
