Battlefield 3 Beta is out

BF3 is the Bees Knees. It has some beta issues but for the most part it is amazing. No lag, No video issues and the play is fluid. I really enjoy how I no longer come up to something and think "here comes that invisible wall I get stuck on". Now I just keep running and hop over the object like I would have in real life. I also enjoy the fact that no one is jumping all over the place! The scope glare is great, the flashlight lighting is amazing and the natural lighting effects are sweet. As much as I like shooting everyone I find myself starring off into nature because it is so pretty.

One thing I also love about BF3 is the character movement. It's extra fluid. You can go into a sprint, scale a wall and then dive into prone position with ease. You could never move around that well in the older games. You couldn't even go prone in the old ones. Now you can also get bi-pods to improve stability on the heavy guns when you are prone.

Also flow of gameplay on the beta is amazing. Big open field where lots of people are sniping and being careful. Then you get funneled into the metro and use assault rifles, then back outside. Great map.

Last time I checked it was a beta. That is why we are testing it, to find those bugs. That is a simple fix and says nothing about the game since it is in BETA.

Is that the console version? It looks like ass, I would be upset!

I don't have much of an investment in BFBC2. I like the game play in the BF3 beta better.

Prone, crawling, reticle sway, melee, among other things. Overall, it just feels less goofy.

PC gaming snobbery??????srsly?????? :laughing

I don't know if you remember a magazine called "PC Accelerator", but it was probably one of the better gaming mags to come out. anyways, the editor use to rail on why PC gaming will always win out over consoles, blah blah blah....well, the magazine he was editor of failed (a shame, because I really did like it) and next time I see him show up, he's editor of Xbox magazine or some such, singing the virtues of the console and how it was the future, which of course it is. That's why I was laughing at your mutual love fest for the PC as a gaming platform, it always gets me how fanboys talk down on shit of no consequence. I will never spend the money for a PC gaming system, because even though I do game a lot, I still consider myself a casual gamer and I can buy all the current gen consoles for the price of a mediocre gaming PC.........

BTW: whoever was looking for a gaming laptop...Dell has sales on it's Alienware line all the time, just keep your eye out.

I have a pc that will run it pretty well on high settings. I also played it on xbox. If I played on PC I would have to buy a wired 360 controller and play with that. I know aiming with a mouse is better but if you want to aim, strafe, duck, prone, scale obstacles, hold your breath when sniping, throw grenades, aim down sight, fire, sprint, select weapons, etc I don't want my hands all over the damn keyboard when I'm playing

Now that you mention it I do remember the magazine. PC magazines were never REALLY my thing tho so couldn't really care less about the guy (pc gamer just went digital if you care). To be honest I don't care too much if somebody chooses to game on a console, I get it, every game you pop in you know it'll play without any hardware issues (atleast i think that's the case). What bothers me is that console gaming is so big now that it brings gaming down as a whole. Now developers build games around a console because not doing so would isolate them from so much money it's ridiculous. Money keeps businesses afloat. 6/7 year old "computer" technology is ancient, you must understand this. Therefore because the market knows no better, we're stuck in the past as far as what developers will do to push the envelope hardware wise. Every once in a blue moon you get a crysis (1) or a bf3 (i hope) , but for the most part, we play the same games. I'm going to assume you're not responding to me on your x box or playstation which more or less justifies the cost difference.

I will agree with you that, unfortunately, console gaming is the future...phuck, it's the present. Justifying the cost of building a gaming PC is strictly personal and as far as titles coming out doesn't make too much sense. Enthusiast type deal if you will. However, what you can't argue, is that every single title on a console has looked dated since 2006.
