Best Bikes under 500cc

Don't forget to include the Suz Drz4e model with 21/18" wheels shod with street or dual-sport tires.

The best 499cc bike you'll ever find is Honda's little sweet dancer of a V4 the
VF500F Interceptor... narrow as arrow and light as a feather with 68HP on the
rear wheel... they just don't make bikes like this any more...

Sorry Gabe but there are no good bikes under 500cc's. If you want something good under 500cc's you'll need to get a scooter, anything you'll do on such a small bike a scooter is a better choice except for dirt riding.:twofinger

What do you mean affordable. To me 10k is affordable while others think that 10k is expensive

I'd say the KTM500EXC is best, but it's 500 in name only, with an actual displacement of 510cc .

horrible, you booted the most awesome candidate right off the top.

Back up, I guess the WR250X is a ok but I've never ridden one and it's already mentioned.

I say the Aprilia RS50.

443 pounds wet is light as a feather? What kind of bird has 443-pound feathers? A petrified pterodactyl?

Yup - 530 and 500 = same bike really. Carb or FI - take your pick.

They are also 510cc. So the under 500cc bit throws them out. I rpefer the 530 personally. Out of the box its closer to right and rejet done by the right person is a hell of a lot less than the power commander and map for the 500. on the order of 300 or more less.

RS125's aren't diffcult to find but very tough to get plated although there are a few...

belt drive?

can that possibly be OEM?

belt drive?

can that possibly be OEM?

Not OEM... when I asked Honda's engineers at Daytona they told me "its
impossible to belt drive their bike... Larry you'd have to start with
the belt and engineer the whole bike around it"... really??? well 8
months of engineering and machining parts my 86 VF500F Interceptor
became the famous 500 Belt-0-Ceptor and I racked up 98,000 trouble
free miles... you should have seen the look on those engineer's face
when they inspected THEIR bike... they asked "what's next?" build my
own frame I shot back... "OK" they said "you probably could do that".
