Best Motorcycle ~ Locking System ~

I have never seen these before. I am taking a better look into them. thanks for that!

$69 and 1.2 pounds. Pretty easy to carry.

Or you could use a small u-lock (like the ones that come with the big chains) and loop it thru a spoke on wheel and the caliper mount.

You know why both of these fail and people have mentioned full coverage?

^^^ An Alarm type of a device may have worked a little in this. Even a disc lock wouldn't help, cuz they just lifted it and put it in the van...

M.F*** someone needs to have a better security system for bikes. Insurance is good, but it doesn't cover emotional bonding you have with "Your" bike. It's pure rape...

Isn't there a BETTER Security System out there for bikes...????

put a shit load of locks in every whole you can fit thru the rear rotor.
I will invent an alarm where if it's enabled, a voice will say, don't try to steal this BITCH and then anyone that attempts to lift the bike while it is in locked position will get 60,000 volts thru their system and then a voice will come out and say, I fucking told you not to steal this shit BITCH!

I counted 20sec from the time they both grabbed the bike to pulling away in the van. Way too easy!

Grrr. fast forward to 3:00 That was annoying :p

They really looked for locks before they lifted it. A front disk might have made them think twice at least :dunno

OP: no disrespect meant but try not to obsess too much. It's not a Paginale :p

I use disk locks on both ends on the theory that it will take more people or time to steal it but insurance is a must. The two old to steal idea is BS, if it's easy and can be offed for enough to get high anything will be stolen.

Reading that made me stop worrying about the bike being lifted so much as being ridden away. Using a disc lock (on back wheel is best) and steering lock go a long way. All the additional countermeasures are highly recommended for apartment dwellers.

That being said, I want to install an integrated alarm, like the Scorpio http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/14/71/991/13728/ITEM/Scorpio-SR-i900-RFID-Security-System.aspx?WT.ac=SLIsearch

It's gotta be tucked away good, with wires routed and taped up along the factory wiring harness.

^ ^ ^ That looks like a nice alarm system. But for $400, I'm sure there are many other contenders on the market... Anyone have "Better" solutions...???

Sell it and get a not-so-nice-looking "first bike?" :dunno

This. I never worry about my blue EX500 getting stolen in SF cuz it looks like a piece of shi- work. Piece of work. And I just use it for commuting. It's been down on thee sides at least and drools a little oil down the side of the block, but it's still a blast to ride.

The DRZ I worry a little more about, but I put it in the garage (when there's space :facepalm ) and park it in motorcycle specific parking at work. It's not flashy, and looks pretty dull. I still would like a lock for it, but once you lock it up, doesn't that mean it's worth stealing? :rolleyes

I bought a stolen-recovered ZX0R a few years ago that had a Scorpio alarm on it. It was still active, and I had to contact Scorpio to get a new remote for it and was good to go!

didn't do a lot for the original owner though..... :wow

Also beware alarms that include an immobilizer circuit. Seems like a good idea until something goes wrong. I met a guy in Misano at the World Ducati Weekend back in 1998 that had ridden there from the UK on his 916. About 100 miles outside of Bologna, his alarm malfunctioned and disabled the bike. Nothing he or anyone else could do would get around the alarm. He ended up having to get it towed back home :wtf

That's Exactly what I'm doing....

That sucks you don't like the Xena... I've been reading good stuff on it, yeah some not-so-good also...:nchantr

Xena had one and worked ok for awhile then, now its just a noisy paper wieght I have to keep batteries away from :thumbdown

Roadlok

Check these out. The wife has one on her Duke and I've got one on the way for my Striple. They add about the weight of a can of coke to the bike ... very lightweight. I also have a Xena XX15 that I put on the back. The Roadlok stays attached and the Xena fits nicely under the seat.
