Hey 250GPracer/ANON glad your OK,I just signed up for my first track day at Laguna.Reading about all these crashes has gotten me a little paranoid about riding the highways.When you get that 600 let's go and do the track with Art.Good luck hope you get back up on two wheels soon.

Anon what's the status of your bike? Are you going to fix it, or sell it and buy something bigger. I'm sure you can sell it to someone who want's to race afm. They won't care too much about the body work. Were you insured? If so, and it was totaled according to the insurance co. Buy it back and sell it.

I'm going to try to fix it. Looks like the damage is mainly cosmetical, it seems to run ok. Although i can’t ride it around the block or anything, yet. Left handle bar is broken off, so i can't steer, left peg is broken off, so i have no place to put my foot. Also, road rash starts to bleed when I bend knees. :bigbarf

Front end of the bike is seriously fucked up(result of bike going head on with a tree). Frame is so badly bent that I can’t completely turn handle bars in either direction. So I removed that part of the frame. Handlebars now turn fine.

If I have to replace: peg/bracket, left handle, headlight lens, front end – frame. These are the most basic things I need to replace before taking the bike back out on the streets.
After I get that done, I’ll probably replace the clutch lever, exhaust pipe and gas tank.

Isn't the frame the thing that everything else is attached to and holds the bike together?
 
make sure you check the forks, If they are warped in any way they will not work right. I think if you had bought the rear sets and removed the center stand it would have cost less than what you are going to spend to get your bike back on the road. The sad part is your going to go out out again with the same set up.
If you are going to keep the bike, think about some upgrades.

I'm not sure what to call it then... It's some sort of metal casting that holds the speedo and headlight in place.

thanx for the concern art. i actually did remove the center stand before the crash. I think i will invest in some upgrades.

hey art, i hope u know my real name isn't "anon". They call me that on the other board because i don't post with a name. Thus under author it comes up as anonymous and people started calling me anon... so anon is basically as much of a name as 250gpracer.... doc smiley checkin' in :teeth for the initial road rash healing I'd keep the wound moist with antibacterial ointment and loosely wrapped bandages to keep soaking up any discharge. this will help cut down scarring if that's important to you. If not have fun pickin' away but don't let it get all infected (eww?). I've found contrary to popular belief chicks don't really dig scars. anyways at least you can move limbs w/o continually crackin' them scabs open, lol!
 
haven't been riding since Feb 10. before then on my previous get off, it was from end of october till start of january. :rolleyes so if you calculate actual seat time (started late may), i've only been riding 6-7 months tops.

plenty addictive esp from such a long layaway. keeping the speeds sane won't leave you missing the sport. haha, should have followed my own advice. :rolleyes.

have you taken your bike to a shop to get a damage estimate? they might catch some things you might not have. my advice, maybe just get another 250 and use your current bike as a parts bike. might be cheaper that way. maybe spend some of the $ leftover for some rearsets, clip ons and other goodies to get your 250 to be an even sharper bike. or possibly upgrade to a SV650?

the thing that holds the speedo/headlight assembly is the fairing stay IIRC. the frame is the thing that holds the engine in place.

Perhaps the fact that none of us actually KNOW your real name comes into play? Hell, I even call you Anon when not calling you 250gpcrasher.
