Blatten Switzerland decimated by avalanche

With the pic of the swamped out town, it's even got the classic "Banana In The Tailpipe".
The glacier was only in the way. Glad they had an idea that something was happening.

On the topic of rebuilding, I have to wonder if a catastrophic event happened to many of the homes built on the cliffs of California were to be destroyed in what seems to be an "not if but when" situation, would they try to rebuild their homes? (a little further back)

I would guess some might but most would be hesitant given their experience and would find a new awesome place to rebuild. However, some new family/person that moves to California for wonderful views would probably buy up that vacant lot and build a new house.

I think that developers have built in bad spots, for the profit, and don't GAF about what happens after they have moved on to the next money maker.

I think that people will buy up the lots or keep them, develop on them, then sell them to somebody who doesn't know the dangers.

It's human nature, for some, to pass on the costs of their own mistakes onto others, if they can get away with it.
