Blu-ray DVD player

Anybody know how good/bad Netflix library of blu-ray is? Do they have much on blu-ray?

Im on netflix and they pretty much have everything out there. There will be times there might be a "short wait" on new releases but there's plenty selection to hold me down.

I have Blockbuster and they have a ton of Blu-ray. Plus you can take your mail envelopes to the store and just exchange for another. So you're getting 2x what you subscribe for basically....

Then again, you can stream Netflix off your 360/Tivo.

I have yet to have a wait on any blue ray's for netflix, even on their new releases. Its one extra buck to get blue ray.

I really wish that they would increase their selection of "netflix" but I understand that they have a hard time with the production companies.

How the hell you guys do it? :cry

I have netflix and all the popular new releases are "Very long wait" and "VERY VERY long wait" :(

I guess I'll be the one nay sayer here and say that I dont care too much about HD, upsampled DVD looks fine to my amateur eyes.

The moment those $1/day kiosks in Walmart and grocery stores like Redbox stocks BD I plan to get the non-analog out panny BD player. Hopefully soon :).

There, no excuses. Go buy your player :thumbup

Those comparisons are really interesting.

Is Blu-ray all the same or are there quality difference between players? Obviously I know nothing about Blu-ray.

Discs can be encoded very well or poorly depending on the source material and/or the studio, just like DVDs. The Bluray player you use will not matter much, more would be dependent on the quality of the HD display device/video processor.

Check out this site for more comparisons:

There are differences between players. Im no expert but the main differences would be sound capabilities, upgrade/firmware capabilities and BDlive.

The last two I mentioned require the player to have to ability to connect to the internet which some dont.

my first really good impression of BluRay came when I watched Rocky Balboa (the latest) believe it or not. The fight scene was actually shot IN BluRay digital format. It was STUNNING! You could actually make out the faces in the crowd instead of just seeing 'blobs'. It was extremely crisp and sharp.

I find lots of "BluRay" movies that are ripped from film and they are sometime pretty poor quality. YMMV on other movies. One of the few BluRays I actually bought to show the high quality was Wal-E.

The scenes in the latest batman when they shot in IMAX was fucking incredible.

Scroll down to the Blue-Ray disc reviews and they have reviews on the best quality recordings for blue ray format.

Oh and one other thing. Be prepared to become humble before the gods of audio/video. :laughing

I love their 'Movies with BASS' thread. Although I still need a bigger sub (or two).
