BMW HP2 Sport?

even if it's discontinued, who cares...

it's one of those rare bikes yo won't see at starbucks every 5 minutes and even in 10 years it'll be a classic...

i love the bmw hp series...:cool

Strikes me as strange that in his four photos he does not show the right side of the bike, though you can tell the right side mirror and right rear turn signal appear to be fine.

$10.5k? owner over seas? wire money to bank overseas?

calling BS with this one. call a dealer and they'll come pick it up with at least 12k.

No BS.

The owner runs a race team and seems to be well known in the Houston Area. This was my own research and not by his accord.

Actually, the price isn't far off. There were a few newish HP2S on ebay in the 15K BIN and none sold.

It's a niche bike and with the introduction of the S1000RR which pretty much trumps it in every performance category, you'll see the market is small.. Hell, i've seen HP2 Enduros sell for 8ish.

And to top it all off - i'm not new to this rodeo. I can sniff a scam a mile away :) But alas, until the bike is in my garage, it's all up in the air!

I hope you get it. that's a hell of a deal.

Simple solution is to hire a BMW dealer in Houston to do a PPI on the bike. Ask them to verify identify of the guy for you. Maybe offer them a few bucks to allow shipment directly from their shop, obviously with a waiver of liability from you.

I have a little bitty scale model of one in my garage, does that count?

actually I lust after these also.

Brian Parriott crahed one most spectacularly in my corner t6 of buttonwillow a few years ago. Simple low-side, Brian was fine, bike flipped as it caught dirt at the edge of the track and launched 10 feet in the air.

I have never seen , before or since, a rear wheel split longitudinally, into 2 separate hoops.

I was there! I never felt bad for a bike until I saw that.. I think the wheels he was running were Marchesinis.

I snapped this pic when they dropped off the bike in his pits! All the SJBMW guys were in good spirits though..

I watched that crash as well, the bike was higher than 10 feet :teeth It was pitiful to see what was left in the pits later. Looked like someone had just "torn" the swingarm like paper. Bike looked about 4 feet long from front to back ouch!!!!

Minor, odd note. The tires on that bike are not the OEM tires. A little strange that he would have replaced the tires in 1,500 miles if all he did was tool around Houston roads. Just an observation.

Remember to post up here if you pass on the bike. It's running around the back of my mind.

Man a new 2012 one is $23,000...that's an expensive sports bike.

Considering it offers similar performance to a 600cc Japanese Supersport, yes it is expensive, but that's not why people buy one. It's a bit of a work of art, in addition to being a solid sportbike that produces an amazing sound when it's on the pipe.

I don't recall that these bikes sold very well at full list when they came out. I'll bet the challenge today is finding the right buyer, someone who appreciates what this bike was, since one could have a 2012 S1000RR with full warranty for only a few grand more.

I noticed that too, but it wouldn't be that difficult to rip into a Mezeler Racetec rear in 1,000 miles.

But also noticed both F/R tires were changed too.

Still have not heard back from the seller yet...

True and it's hot in Houston in the summer, but there are no twisties to speak of at all, so he would have been slabbing it.

My fear whenever I look at bikes like this is that someone tracked them for a couple thousand miles, then put them back to stock and put them up for sale as a lightly used street bike. Still may not be a problem though, even if that's what he did.

I wouldn't mind if an HP2s was ripped around the track for a few hundred miles.. Shoot i'd do the same thing.:)

At least if it was ridden the way it was supposed to be ridden, then any problematic areas would have shown up already.
