I just got a Zero DSRX. Where do you guys charge your bikes away from home? I just stopped at Safeway at the Tesla banks and those plugs don’t fit. Do I need to get an adapter? Is the info buried deep in The Electric Motorcycle Thread?

I must admit I didn’t search. I’m on my phone at Safeway right now. I have plenty to get home. I took a ride over to Scotts Valley today.

Thanks in advance.

There are basically 3 different chargers. Do you know what your plug looks like?

I also find the PlugShare app very helpful.

This is one of the many reasons I would never own an electric vehicle of any sort.

Tesla only charges Tesla I think, they are the apple of electric cars, everything is proprietary. Not sure what the modern Zeros use or if they can even support fast charging. I'd assume the manual gives some info.

All that will get sorted out in the next few years.

Perhaps. In a few years. But charging stations will remain few and far between.

And I don’t see the time it takes to charge getting as short as the time it takes to fill a gas tank. I still see electric vehicles being a very small niche market for a long time. There are too many faults and inconveniences involved.

Whatever floats your boat.

Or doesn’t.

You have to hook up with Motoproponant. It’d be a kick to see your zero at Stonybarf. I’ll probably bring the Brightdrop and an EV dirtbike.

Also pick up an adapter.

Some misinformation in this thread. While I don't own an electric motorcycle, I do have an electric car from GM. Tesla and Rivian have opened up their chargers to everyone.

Yup, few and far between.

I hate the inconvenience of not stopping at gas stations. Where will I get my beef jerky and KitKat bars? Then there's those fluid changes. Oil, transmission, yeah...sure do miss those too. Thise were fun.

Fact is most people don't drive far enough to require charging away from home. My EV has over 300mi range, owned it over a year, 12k miles, and have never had to charge it away from home.

Is this map showing there are no electric vehicle stations in South Bay?

Looks like those are the electric vehicle charging stations.

edit: for correctness

Yup. none.

I don't disagree that more = better, but you don't see EV's stranded due to low / no charge.

Looks like those are just the electric vehicle charging stations with available spots, more than one charger, and fast charging.

I believe that Enchanter may have meant:
Yup, I fixed it.

The buttons in that image of the app are poorly designed. They were not 'selected'. The background stays grey, when selected the icon within them turns blue. The image shows all chargers.

Ah ok. My bad. I do have an old Zero DS. Usually for short rides and charge at home so I never use public stations. The map looked like gas station pumps, I would have thought they would show a lightning bolt or something to differentiate gas vs electric stations.

Everything ICE we own is sitting at 1/4 tank right now, the electrics are sitting at fulll charge. Why is this? Because you plug the things in at night and it’s cheep to fill up.
My next errand today is gassing up the truck.

Additionally as great as the super chargers are the fast chargers perform decently enough. Many are situated in locations that allow multitasking while charging.

Yep, mine is plugged in at night so that in the morning it is full. But I have upcoming afternoon weekday meetings 90 miles away in Vacaville and that means fighting the commute traffic. I do not want to sit in a cage trapped by other cages.

My next meeting is next Wednesday @1900hrs and I will ride out to there, but if and only if I have a charging solution there. Which I expect to.
