Boot Stretching Suggestions??

I get all my work boots and work done at “Traverso’s Work Shoe Headquarters” on Dublin Blvd in Dublin (near 680 & 580). Full service shop. However, I use a personally custom made wedge for my A* waterproof, they seam to be a litlle more narrow or stiffer than my vented pair. Gonna sound funny, but see if you can find a rock the right size and shape, I’ve used smooth river rocks, same idea as the golf ball, just slip it in while it’s still warm and sweaty from your ride and leave it until you put them on again. I’ve done this kind of thing on many pairs of work amd moto boots cuz it works with little inconvenience.

The Cobbler in Hayward has a toe box stretcher that may work for you. I had him stretch the toe area of my Oxtar boots to make them wider. Pinky toe was getting crushed. It helped, just not enough in my case.

I like this idea. If "pleather" heat the rock and boot in the midday sun to soften the plastic more than your warm foot ever could.

BTW the ice idea worked for my daughter who just had to have a pair of trendy Doc Martens shoes. Can't remember if they were natural or synthetic.

Paul's Shoe Repair in Berkeley does good stretching, shaping, etc.

2281 Shattuck Ave, Berkeley, CA 94720

Id go with the cobbler suggestion. they best can stretch your tight boot.

I'll dogpile on to this one. A pro should be able to give you a sense of the chances of ultimate success before they start in on it.

Sidi is not kind to wide feet/big toe boxes.

Hmmm, I have some hella-duck feet and have been happy with 5 pair of Sidis over the years.

OP might want to check Cal Ski on Gilman in Berkeley..Theyve actually adjusted a couple of pait of super hard ski boots for me. They use heat, and internal press. Having duck feet can make fitting difficult.
:quack

When I buy a new pair of boots, I put them on and then stuff the garden hose down in them and turn the water on until they're fully flooded. I walk around in them for about an hour and then let them dry outdoors in a shady spot with good breezy ventilation. They get nice and stretched out where need be and fit well afterwards.
I hope you're serious because I'm gonna fuckin' try that! :thumbup

My suggestion is a clothes steamer and shoe expander.

I've had to do that with most of my boots (and most of the leather shoes I wear) for one of my feet.

Otherwise the big toe on my left foot either hurts and/or breaks it's way through.

I’ve had Dean’s Shoe Repair resole my Danner’s a few times over now. They might be able to help. They’re in Concord behind Trader Joe’s (Oak Grove & Treat)

There’s also “The Cobblers” in Hayward. They can pretty much do anything old school in terms of boots/leather. They’re on Foothill.

AWESOME!!!!! thanks, I'm in Concord so that helps a ton!

McKays Shoe Repair in Pleasant Hill. On Doray Dr just off Contra Costa Blvd, on the north side of the Grocery Outlet shopping center.
They repair track leathers, too.

I hit up Dean's Shoe Repair. They tried, but my boots are too small / old. He stopped before hurting the boot, so I'm happy. $6
They currently have my track suit, should see it Thurs / Friday :thumbup

are the boots new? I just switched to Sidi's after having A* for awhile and the toe box is definitely tighter than the A* were.

They were downright painful the first couple of rides - now i'm up to maybe 750 miles on my Sidi Vortice and while they are not perfect - they are starting to feel good - particularly in the toe box - still some break in to go. THis was very different from my A* that felt broken in out of the box but offered much less protection (SMX6)

FUnny that my right foot is the problem too - i notice it in some shoes too - unfortunately i haven't been pregnant so my only excuse is to lay off the calories and beer i guess :(

Obviously new boots is the easiest answer but if you want to stretch the ones you have maybe try a ski shop. Put them in that little toaster oven they use on new ski boots where you heat them then immediately wear them to conform and harden to the shape of your foot.

Search on Amazon or ebay for 'Boot stretcher', there are plenty of options.

Or you can support the cobblers.

There are a couple of cobblers in Lafayette. I went to one to have my Sidi ST's resoled. Call some near you and ask. If your boots are like mine they have a semi-rigid plastic toe cap on each foot for minimizing shift lever rub-through on the top of the boot. It may be as simply as applying some heat to it and reforming. Were the boots exposed to ambient temperature changes when not being used?

Anywho...good luck I hope you can get them to fit well again.

:rofl I got a couple of russian dolls and jammed em in the toe... :teeth:thumbup I'll let ya know how they feel after a ride. My toes can fall off... I don't notice them when riding... maybe at a stop sign... :teeth can't waiiiit for the weekend!! :party
