Thursday I was over at DeAnza College to meet a client. At the light at Mary's, some kids in an SUV see the left turn folks go, so they go as well- even though theirs is the straight ahead lane. "Fuckin ooops". It gets worse; a Sheriff on a Honda is right there and stops the poor sap. I felt bad for him, I can recall doing similarly when I'm tired or not paying attention- lucky to have never made it through, just a car length too far or so. Seemed like good kids, they weren't goofing around or anything or going fast.

Scratch or pass?

A pass? You're kidding right? If you were on your Busa making a left turn and a SUV jumped over from the number one lane, I'm sure you would feel differently.

Man- I ain't no salty old weathered everybody gets a ticket motor Sgt. like you! :)

Yeah this is like the stop sign scenario for me. It may have not been intentional, but the inattention that resulted in the violation was one that could have deadly consequences. This would be a cite from me.

Getting a ticket for an infraction is a lot better than going to jail for felony involuntary manslaughter.

Cite them every time. I probably see two or three a month, and I do a lot of desk duty. These are the "brain fart" moments that kill and injure others. No pass from me.

Aren't there several VC sections that refer directly to brain farts? Words like "endangering others" or "reckless"?

Remember Craig Hightower?

If somebody made me get out of the saddle so I could not ride around and look at myself in the mirrored business windows they got a fang, period, end of story and take it to the bank.

Besides, brain farts on the road kill people. I have been to, investigated or reviewed 30K+ crashes, not one was an accident.

The intersections of 85, Mary, and Stelling/Stevens Creek are prone to nasty wrecks and has a lot of pedestrian traffic, so the cops will be out there preferring to not have to measure skid marks.

Coming off northbound 680 at Bollinger, there's 1 left turn & 3 right turn lanes.

Bozo is in #2 lane which directs traffic to the right. Bozo does bozo and turns left.

I followed him and got him to pull over (I was in cage) and explained calmly why I needed to chat with him. He was bewildered, said he'd always turned left from that lane. :facepalm

Can we get some LEO presence there for a few days? :teeth

Dude. SRSLY! You have to stop doing this. Let it pass ...

I watched a Honda do that one day crossing Sunrise Blvd on Old Auburn (in Citrus Heights). I was reaching down to turn on the lightbar to go after her for the cite, when the car got broadsided by an old Ford pickup at about 50mph. Car was totaled, but luckily nobody got hurt.

I offered to write her at the scene, but the motor said he'd just mail it instead. Write it.

I hate brain farts. I have gotten them, and 1 bad one(nothing happened) I ran a red light that had an intersection immediately behind it and I saw that green. I was on my brakes hard.

Then you get the ones where you stop at a green light because it was red.
