My car's third stop light has a modulator in it that flashes it rapidly 4x then slower 3x then just stays solid after that.

While changing the bulb I saw this a/m unit that the previous owner prolly installed.

Has anyone gotten one of these to work for their motos?

I've used BackOFF's brake light flasher on my old bike. It worked great as I had 2 incandescent brake lights and it was able to modulate both independently.

I bought the one you took a picture of for about $3 on ebay about 2 months ago from China. Product never arrived, so I wrote back and they are resending it. If I ever get it and remember, I can update this thread with how it is.

I feel these are more annoying than anything on cars or bikes. I guess that means they work. But I curse the souls in front of me...especially if they let up a bit only to get on brakes again immediately...flash flash flashity flash...

I just let my 3 brake lights on the car do their thing, and tap the rear brake pedal a bit on the moto if I feel the cars behind me are extra dumb that day.

I had a Back Off in 1996, worked great.

If you want quality and warranty, invest on a piece if kit from Kisan or Skene Design.

But if the offspring asks you to make one to teach her how to fab a harness and light, spend a pittance here:

and here:
http://www.amazon.com/CARCHET-Strobe-Controller-Flasher-Module/dp/B00I4J35HY

and take a morning and make this:

Not exactly sleeping at a Super 8, but you get the idea.

I bought 2 strobe controllers thinking one would fail, but 2 years later, it still works.

PM me and I'll mail you my spare if you're interested.

I just bought hyperlites for my bike.

If this is for street riding, Cali law states your brake lights can't flash more than 4x in 4 seconds.

CVC 25251.5.(c) Any stoplamp or supplemental stoplamp required or permitted by
Section 24603 may be equipped so as to flash not more than four
times within the first four seconds after actuation by application of
the brakes.

If we want to be technical, LED's flash many times more than 4 in 4 seconds :nerd
I know not everybody has LED brake lights... And I'm just nitpicking.

Another vote for Kisan. Everything I've ever bought from them has worked as advertised and never broken.

Lots of good responses. I'm just now reading through these.

So mebbe I should try this on an led strip I can mount under my main brake lamp?

If you like fiddling and fabricating, go ahead with your plans. If you'd like to install and be done with it, go with Kisan.
