BT016 Expected lifespan?

Speaking as someone who actually uses these tires in the method asked about :twofinger ... they are great tires. I commute about 300 miles a week and twisties about 180 or so. I got about 4500 miles on my last set that had 2 track days on them. This was on my FZ-1 which carries a lot of weight on the front. I still had a little bit of life left on the rear but the front was definitely done. I'm not super aggressive on the street but the trackdays make up for it. :thumbup. As a matter of fact BT016 are what I'm using in my Avatar.

The one thing I loved about these tires is when you get aggressive with them they will give you some pretty good feedback before completely giving up.

Either way, It's hard to beat this tire for the price. $100 front $150 rear give or take. As far as the FZ-1 is concerned I probably won't put another tire on until the next gen of this one :teeth

After about 2 weeks (that's 500 miles freeway/300 twisties) I'm beginning to see the signs of the rear squaring off. Gonna have to take the car more instead. I'm loving the grip; it's like night and day over my Roadsmarts. I thought my Roadsmarts were really good, but the 016s are awesome. Too bad that even with a three compound rear it's still not hard enough in the middle.

(FWIW I run 34psi in the rear regardless of twisties or freeway)

Ive run 4 sets so far. They just dont last for me. Yes I ride hard but still less than 2k miles on a front is really getting old. Getting about 2500 from the rear. Im switching back to 2ct's next week. Friends on liter bikes are getting over 5k front and back on the 2ct's.. the extra cash is worth it imo. And yes the bt016's are predictable when they slide but it sucks when they are sliding around and you arent anywhere near the wear bar!

5K on a 2ct? no way, really...... damn I am doing something wrong.....

I thought i was the only one running the front down quickly...... thank god I'm not. They must use super soft compound on the sides of the fronts. I got about 1.2k miles out of the sided of my fronts with, in my estimation, ATLEAST 40% center tire tread left.

I'm going to try pilot power 2cts next.

The bt016's are really good tires ( I've ran two sets) but the fact the front wears so fast is annoying enough for me to want to try something else.

my subjective thoughts of the BT-016 ( mounted on a 07 gsxr 750) :

Grip : excellent. hard acceleration out of the corners and the rear sticks. Hard turn in ( or late apex) the front sticks all the way to the apex. When the front is worn down is gets slippery, it does give you feedback to stop pushing it before it give out.

Wear: rear - good for a hyper sport tire. ~2.5k- ish miles of spirited canyon riding. front - bad, ~1.2-1.4k-is miles and the sides were done. me no likey.

steering - neutral as far as i can tell. currently running a bt-003, and that thing just wants to lean.

braking: stable, had two or three hard panic stop and the front didnt get squirrel-y . i like.

track: never ran them at the track. no opinion.

looks: looks better then the bt-014 that's for sure.

conclusion : i love how well these tires work on the street. the grip is fantastic, but the wear on the sides of the front goes very quickly. If you are going to buy a few sets i would buy 2 rears and 3 fronts. They are inexpensive. inexpensive is good. thus bt-016's are good. fin.

^ Dave I just had gotten the 016 and I'm still learning them but from the little I have pushed them, they feel good (but different from what I know, my first Bstones).

As for the front wearing before the rear, that just happened to me on Dragon Super Corsa's. I thought it was super weird because it had never happened before, mind you that the rear Dragon's are also about at the end of it's life. For reference this result is on a 08' 1098, now I' m looking to see how these Bstones front work on the bike.

At first it's still funny to me, it takes sometime before I trust it... I'm also glad to hear that I' am not the only one wearing our the front before the rear.

OP for the type of riding you are doing, I would go with the New gen Roadsmarts.

Also I did find the Pilot Power and PP 2CT have long life... although I don't care for Michelins

Just a little further feedback on these tires. I (unintentionally) rode with them in the rain today. They felt alright, but my rain experience is limited and I was keeping my lean angle to the absolute minimum. Under downhill braking I felt the back tire squirm a little bit, but nothing too intense.

M1 or M3? I have ridden in the M1's in some pretty nasty conditions (thunderstorm) and I thought over all performance was great! I think I was able to get 3500-4000 miles on the rear and about 6k+ from the from the front.
