Budman's meeting with Senator Joe Simitian on OHV funding

Done and doing.

Budman gives us a home here on the internet to get dirty, so let's fight for our right to do it on government land!

I hope you guys get somewhere.
The only result I know that works is a lawsuit. Let me know if you want the detail on that.
.

Hey Papi!
Missed You man.
Guess I'll look for you in this e-house!

And--- I've always agreed with you about lawsuits for action re: OHV lands.
Sure wish that ball had been pushed into movement, oh what 2-3 years ago.
I know you tried very hard to get that going.

Question:
Who knows what the total take is for the State regards Green Sticker OHV funds? What is the annual revenue from this license tax now? Maybe the AMA ... and others should consider organizing a total Boycott?

Either Use Green sticker funds for their intended use ... or get NO funds at all. That might get their attention.

Here's a nice (SBR) post covering this --- Understanding the Off-Highway Vehicle Trust Fund.

The parks proposal will most likely start to be heard between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., Wednesday May 23rd.

Please call or email their offices before 9:00 tomorrow morning!

Take action boys!

They need to see that moto people won't be walked on anymore.

Yes it is shit. A lot of the grants are greenie stuff to. Restoration and protection of areas where endangered species reside. Without those the areas will end up being trampled again and decades of work to restore them lost in two years. Call the govenor and tell him this sucks!

OHV's are a family good time and losing that is just not acceptable.

I had no idea one could call and actually talk to the governor:wow. I can't wait!:cool I know exactly where he can find tens of millions of dollars to divert to OHVs- not away from them- and shut down a bunch of bogus state agencies claiming to help the disabled. All they are really doing is to string the disabled along in bureaucratic bs so that state workers can collect a padded paycheck.
To let OHVs decline so that there is more money for agencies like the ones I deal with for my son is pure BS...not on my watch.:mad

Will also try to make it down to cruz on thursday.

Thanks Budman :thumbup Email to Senator Simitian sent...with some added encouragement that OHV needs MOAR $ not less...and yes, I do live in his district :teeth

Was this posted in ADVRider? They should be all over this!

Will try and make it on Thursday.

FYI - the senators that have the email forms will only take your email if you are in their district (I tried and it returned a "contact your own district rep")

BUT...I'm guessing they probably follow all the same naming structure, so you can send messages to the other senators by following Simitian's name format below:

Senator.Simitian@SENATE.CA.GOV

I tried this...hope it works...did not get any bounced mssgs yet.

FYI - I cannot believe Sen Evans from 2nd district (North northbay) is supporting this - she has multiple OHV parks in her district including Stonyford...and we all pump $$ into those economies when we ride there!

anyone in Santa Cruz on Thursday, go to this (stolen from FB) and give him a piece of your mind:

Hey Everyone FREE Ice Cream!!! Senator Joe Simitian is planning on taking ALL of Metcalf's Green Sticker Funds AWAY so the park will close!
He is serving ice cream this Thursday May 24TH FREE in Santa Cruz.

Give him a mouthful on his idea of taking YOUR funds!!!

PALO ALTO – State Senator Joe Simitian (D-Palo Alto) announced today that he will hold his eighth annual Ice Cream Social and Open House on Thursday, May 24, from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at his office in Santa Cruz. He invites residents of the 11th State Senate District to drop in for informal conversation and ice cream.

Simitian and members of his district and Capitol staff will be on hand to meet with constituents. Ice cream by Marianne’s will be served. The event is free, and open to the public.

“The Open House helps me and my staff stay in touch with folks from Santa Cruz County,” said Simitian. “It gives us an opportunity to listen and respond to the community’s concerns, particularly during these challenging times. It’s also a great excuse to eat Marianne’s (Butch comment: good stuff) ice cream.”

WHO: State Senator Joe Simitian, his staff, and members of the public
WHAT: Eighth Annual Ice Cream Social and Open House
WHEN: Thursday, May 24, 2012, from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Emails sent. Maybe I need to take a ride to Santa Cruz tomorrow?

The committee meeting is today.. so he won't be in SC.

This is some good info:

Here is a brief bit with the full info on the link: http://www.ohvdc.org/

The State of California has begun "taking" OHV Trust Fund money you have paid through green sticker purchases, offroad fuel taxes and user fees from State OHV Parks, meaning they will not be returning it. Last year they took $10 million and we believe that they will continue to "take," not borrow, as long as they can get away with it.

We consider this taking to be illegal, and after a legal review, the law firm of Baker Manock & Jensen, specializing in California Constitutional Law has agreed that this is an investigation worth pursuing.

good job budman..... you're fighting the good fight for us!

Maybe roll up to the ice cream thing tomorrow from 4:00pm to 6:00pm & Discuss issues of concern to our community. Maybe he'll realize there are real people that stand behind those who urge him nicely.

EDIT: also emailed, (what a jerk with a generic reply doesn't even regurgitate my name back to me)
