Build quality H-D vs DUC

Since we are talking about how slow Harley's are and all, here's one Spanking a Ducati in the Battle of the Twins way back, and the Ducati was 15 years newer.
Before the Panties twist up, I aint sayin Harleys are a better bike but they arent always the dogs people like to say they are either

is this comment true?

I'm pretty sure that Lucchinelli tried his best to win that race. The Harley was able to compete with the newer Ducati 750 because, contrary to what the announcer says, the Harley had a 1000cc motor. I believe that the Ducati was the standard-sized 750cc. Also, glad you like the video. ;)

I own both.

My Harley's have never leaked oil, but I did all my own maintenance on them.
My ST4 is 11 years old and the clutch slave is just starting to weep fluid. Cost for the piston and new boot is 54.00.
Seems like you can still get parts for older Ducati's just like you can for old Harley's

I think build quality on both makes is right up there.
But if I wanted a reliable sewing machine I'd get a Honda. They are "no problem" bikes but they lack personality!

Sorry, but that's just wrong. A 96" Twin Cam Harley makes a pathetic 62 horse power. That doesn't stomp anything silly.

Victory makes a hell of alot more HP than Harley, and they are air cooled. Yamaha Raiders, Roadliners, and Startoliners make more power, and they are also air cooled V-Twins.

Shit, even Hyosung, a Korean brand, makes more HP out of their air-cooled 650cc V-Twin Avitar than a Harley engine with almost three times the displacement.

V-Rod is quick, V-Max is quicker. Yeah, it's not a V-twin, but it's in the same segment.

DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW TQ AND HP WORK

the raider and other yams sport a 113ci engine btw... just for your comparison to the HD 96. and you're quoting wheel HP for HD so make sure you're discussing wheel HP for the others. if you're just going to discuss HP... and not really understand anything else.

also hyosung is known for inflating their posted crank HP numbers... just read the SV650 vs Hyosung shit650 reviews... but eh, if you're gonna quote them, you're obviously uber knowledgeable

HP is calculated from torque and RPM and is a far better indicator of the SPEED of a vehicle than torque. Only retards like you start bringing up conversations about torque when talking about speed. :rolleyes

He said "fastest". That doesn't mean he's talking about top speed. It sounded to me more like he was discussing acceleration and overall performance. How is torque not relevant?

Tell you what. If you think torque is not relevant, find a Harley rider who knows what they are doing and race him off the line. You'll win eventually, but he'll have you beat until you start exceeding street-legal speeds.

Also in regards to your earlier comment, 62HP isn't uniformly pathetic. It's pretty blistering on my bikes. ;)

wow...

because the transmission has yet to be invented

sorry diesel performance industry, your lack of HP is meaningless

He was talking about drag racing. In a drag race, torque is not the most important stat, AT ALL. That's why the V-Rod makes less torque than any Twin Cam yet smokes them all by full seconds in the quarter.

I've owned many Harleys: 08 Nightrod, 08 Road King, 96 Ultra Classic, 89 Ultra Classic. My V-Rod was faster than any of them in any distance, despite it's small 1130cc engine and low torque numbers.

For a 1584cc engine made in 2010, it's pathetic.

Ok, with this statement you've betrayed your ignorance. You really have no idea how torque works or even what a horsepower number means, do you? If torque won races, then tractors would be the fastest things on the road.

this is two threads you've trolled now... shit posts are shit
