Burning Man 2024

It seems that the end of burning man included a very long and very slow traffic jam...

Burning Man exodus is absolutely unhinged due to epic dust storm
Brett, this isn't really a story. Everyone knows that leaving BM is a long, slow process. It's done deliberately as to have as small an effect as possible on the local communities roadways. If you think of it more as an evacuation of a city as opposed to leaving a sports event, it becomes less sensational.

I wonder how pissed off the rental companies are, following a lot of wind like this, about getting back vehicles that have fine sand in every nook and cranny of the returned vehicle, that would also include the engine air filter and cabin air filter.

Rental Companies have been hip to this forever. There are specific clauses against using rentals at BM because its a corrosive environment to vehicles. That said, I took my daily driver pickup last year. Yeah, it was dusty for a while. It's fine now though. I'm sure if you looked hard enough you could find remnants of playa dust on it still. really a non issue. If you take a rental to BM, the rental company will know and charge you accordingly.

Do you change out your air filter and cabin air filter after each BM trip?

I'd go as far as changing out the oil afterwards, as well. Filters don't filter everything.

Yeah. Basic maintenance from a dirt day. New Mexico wasn't much different :laughing

Isn't the exodus always a nightmare, regardless of circumstances?

My one pix of the man burning, camera just zoomed in, I snapped,
This image didn't last but a couple of minutes, before he dropped and disappeared.
He may have been a bit dusty, anybody give him a ride home??

Sunday nite it took no more than 2 hours to exit, add extra wind and blowing dust, with everybody up and in line, Monday, 6 hours, and a s l o w drive back to I 80

I went once...when it was still at the beach in SF.

What they're doing now is impressively non-interesting to me...but if YOU'RE going have lots of fun...no, really...enjoy your playa dust.

:teeth

Playa dust IS special, some save it for a leaf blower, billowing clouds of dust in the Default World.
or,
Special Cocktails, with that playa flavoring, , ,
year 'round.

All I know is that they and their ill- strapped furry bicycles and dust- covered Class C's need to get the heck out of the left lane on 80!
