CA Fair Plan- thoughts and experiences?

Part of this that as insurers pull out of CA the remaining companies can raise premiums due to lack of competition.

Plus CA doesn’t do much in the way of forest management so the wildfire risk is super high.

California does A LOT. I think the disparity comes from folks having no grasp on the scale of the state and the difficulty of terrain and the manpower required. Plus, the federal govt owns 58% of our forests and just the scale of managing that 42% is bonkers. If we really wanted to do everything the right way, not just forest management but everything, it would take all of us and it would take generations. There would be no room for nonsense work like cancer research and law enforcement and stupid shit like going to school or making medical supplies or....on and on.

IDK, we are "moderate" and were canceled.

It's that darn wilderness cemetery, when the fire burns the undead emerge!

Bigger picture, California insurance rates are still relatively affordable compared to many other parts of the country. We don't have the perpetual re-roofing scam here, where everyone demands a new roof every time theirs gets dented by a few balls of hail. Yea they get their new roof and they also get their $8000/year premium for their 400k house.
