Up to two now.
Looking to upgrade my current router and modem with a single router/modem combo. Thoughts, recommendations?
Something like this:

ARRIS (G34) - Cable Modem Router Combo - Fast DOCSIS 3.1 Gigabit WiFi 6 (AX3000), Approved for Comcast Xfinity, Cox, Spectrum & More, Four 1 Gbps Ports , 1 Gbps Max Internet Speeds. Cost for this unit is ~$200.00 It's approved for cable internet speed plans up to 1 Gbps.

The ARRIS (G36) at ~$270.00, supposedly approved for cable internet speed plans up to 2.5 Gbps. (It says to: Check your Internet Service Provider (ISP) website to confirm compatibility. )

Need to support typically two computers, and two tv's, and occasionally a PS3. Usually only one tv is in use at any given time.

Thoughts, recommendations?
Thx.

That's putting all the eggs in one basket sort of thing. If it gets compromised, you're hosed.
I got a generic Motorola DOCSIS 3.1 modem that only does that.
My router sits behind it and I can swap that out with something newer or update it with OpenWRT or other generic router packages that get modern security updates.

I prefer a separate modem and router too, but would say that the approach adds another point of failure. If either device fails, you’re hosed.

Didn't think about OpenWRT since I don't think of my stuff as a "real network", nor like a store front kinda operation.
Although have been looking at the Firewalla SE so the router/modem combo box probably isn't the way to go vs having
a unique router, firewall, and modem.

Not specifically answering your questions, but if you're looking for better internet quality, you could also consider MoCA adapters (more for the TV and PS3). Assuming you have a coax line going to the TV, the adapter will give you the consistency of a hardwired connection without having to run ethernet through the house.

Here's what I would do. Get a free modem from the your ISP, their most recent model hopefully. Then read reviews on smallnetbuilder.com and pick a router. They tend to call out crap hardware. I like to favor faster CPUs and more RAM in routers over fancy antenna or software bits.
