I have to take my cat to the vet today. It's about 1 mile walking in direct sunlight and with my current tennis elbow I thought I would put the cat on the bike and slowly scoot over there.

Has anyone had any experience with a cat on a motorcycle? My concern is safety and keeping the cat calm.

I just can't risk the life of my pets on a motorcycle...

otoh, I want to teach my ex mother inlaw how to ride a turbo hayabusa...:cool

Depends on the cat I guess. Take it for a spin up and down the block and see how it goes?

I'm not really a cat, but I did have some idiot stuff me in his coat right up to my neck and took me sailing down 101. When I told the skunk in Glen Park about it, he thought I was bullshiting.

I'd say, just make the cat think you're going for a ride... and tape his paws

Walk, the cat is going to be stressed enough just going to the vet and the exercise will do you good :p

this is a perfect opportunity to get your kitty accustomed to not defeating all over himself when scared...

... bring extra clothes... and Band-Aids

Thanks for the info everyone. My cat isn't a typical cat that is afraid of things. Dogs charge up to the cat and he stands his ground. He is the Alpha male of whatever area he lives and pretty much has no fright factor at all. That is why I asked. I've picked him up before at the end of the road and he just sit on the bike while we idle down the road to the driveway.

Lots of motorcycles have cats these days. Removing them is technically a crime. I have found it is best to nock out their innards with a long screwdriver and hammer so at least from the outside the cat appear intact.

^^^Uber makes the most sense.

That being said, I work at a vet clinic in Mill Valley--my cat dislocated her toe one time and, being without a car, I threw her in a backpack and hauled her up there. I can't say she was happy about it but she did just fine.

U are barf

by the time u get the cat comfortable and possibly in a backpack, all your gear on, and fire up the bike, u probably could have already walked there.

I put a cat I had, in the saddle bag, of a Harley I had, and went from Hayward to Gilroy, that way...
When I took the cat out of the saddlebag, it was purring so loud...I named it, Motor.

There is a guy that works here who's only source of transportation is a motorcycle and he has cats. Cardboard cat carrier on the rear rack, he says they only yell for a little while.

My best cat friend Emmit used to ride with me on my ATV in the orchard. I'd sit on his tail so he would not jump off trying to get the squirrels. Never took him on the road on the ATV or tried a motorcycle, though he would have no problems. Your results may vary.
I miss that animal more than any other I've ever had, he's the black one on the right.

Cocomo loved the ride! At first he just chilled out and then he put his paws on my triple tree and just put his face into the wind. The vet took his heartbeat within 2 minutes of being there and it was beating at the speed of a cat that just woke up.
