About 2-3 months ago I was riding by Uvas dam between San Jose and Morgan Hill. It is a normal ride for me so I was relaxed, no tight turns, no suprises (usually). I was coming home going about 70mph when I came around a corner and saw a big Buck that was about 5 feet tall prob weighed about 250lbs and had antlers. He was standing in the middle of the road in both lanes. Need less to say I hit the breaks hard about 40-60 feet from him. The Buck scrambled to get out of the way but his hooves just slipped on the pavement and he did'nt go any where. I luckly stopped about 6 feet from hitting him and as soon as I stopped the Buck regained his traction and when running of in to the brush. Close call From now on I will be more alert when riding when it is almost dark,,,especially near the woods hill ect....:wow

Any one else have any thing like thins happen to them?

somebody on barf t-boned one a while back I believe?? there were pics... :barf

:eek pucker factor 10

yeah, last july on skyline around noon (go figure) same thing came around a turn & bam deer standing in my lane just staring at me, I braked hard aimed for his rear end ducked down below my wind screen & closed my eyes for about 3 seconds when i looked up he was gone

steve ravi & i had to kick back at alices for about 15 minutes so i could stop shaking :laughing

Yeh that kind of stuff can make you think twice before Ignoring those deer crossing signs

Talk to Gary J and ask him how he got his nickname "deerhunter"

I still don't see why people don't wear full face helmets.

Actually, I take that statement back...

face on the pavement pretty hard and her new sheild pop off and flew high and her bike flipping over few times.

umm..had a bambi incident several months back up there also...it was me and 3 other riders all doubled up, later at night. saw several bambis and approached them slowly. suddenly one went straight at me so i broke really hard (almost slid it). luckily missed us by inches, and i mean inches (bambi looked so frightened)!

I had my first encounter of the season a couple of days ago. It wasn't close enough to give me a scare, but I was reminded that there will be more of them in the coming months. The deer factor is now on my watch list.

Has anyone else met the guy(busa rider) who hit a deer on 17 late one night? I met him once at Alice's and we rode to Boulder Creek together. At the time (summer) he rode his bike with NO plastics, and had the smallest light tie wrapped to the front. It was so funny!

OMG!!!!!!! That bike looks scary!! Damn Damn Damn!! I'll stick with my full face helmet. Is it possible to wear two at the same time? Damn!!!

That would most likely be Moike. I know he hit one on his busa on 17. He had some fir stuck in his faring from the critter but didn’t go down.

deer splat

my brother hit one on his gixxer 1000. pretty split the deer. he figures he was doing about 60 when he hit it. skyline south of hiway 9. he knew it was inevitable so he ducked behind his screen and closed his eyes. when he opened them his fairing was pretty much gone and he could see that the front brakes were jacked so he slowed down with the rear. and then went to get his truck to bring the bike home. i would like to say that i would be that calm in that situation but i probably have eaten it. he has a LOT of miles under his belt. dc

Ya, I heard that after he hit the damn thing his bike started to do a monster tanksplapper. He did a wheelie, straightened out the front wheel and brought back..without going down! Maybe he took off the rest of the cowls to make the bike look even for not having a front anymore??
Wild story nontheless!

One of my relatives nearly died riding one evening when he hit a deer going about 55mph. The deer's head lodged between the front wheel and front fender flipping him off the top of the bike.

which is EXACTLY, why we need more hunters around here ;)

Wheelie to get out of a tankslapper is a crazy, yet cool idea.

(I bet you all flame me)
