Chapelle doesn’t want his fans to watch his show anymore

I'm guessing that many artists in entertainment who signed a contract 18 or 19 years ago didn't know much about revenue from internet streaming. Not sure if this applies to Chapelle's situation but the royalties from original TV broadcast, reruns and syndication were either separate from internet streaming or not included at all. IIRC, that was a major sticking point in the writers' strike. I can see why Chapelle would want compensation if he feels he was deceived.

As for the $50 million figure for net worth, I'm not sure where that comes from. I understand those internet "celebrity net worth sites" are wildly unreliable and mostly based on guesses. I'm sure Chapelle is wealthy due to the Netflix specials alone and has no concerns about money so I guess its a moot point.

Yeah he could have had $100M by now. Cry me a river.

right, so it is better served to have the money derived from Dave's art go to some empty suits at Viacom who provide minimal value add?

Well, I mean, residuals from his role as Pinball in Con Air must be worth something or another.

His Volvo crumple zone demonstration in that movie was epic. I hate it when I get Pinball on my windshield.

The majority of singers got thoroughly screwed for decades over contracts they signed when they didn't have the money to hire lawyers to understand WTF they were signing.

Sounds like the same thing happened to Chappelle.

Corporations have been screwing over artists for many decades now. Zero morals, ethics or decency. Just all business and profiting from being dishonest.

Some of you might think they deserved to be screwed. I disagree. There should be more decency and sleaze shouldn't be rewarded.

Dave Chappelle is the Bill Watterson of comedy. I respect them both and am glad they ended up with creative control of there art.

I looked up this Bill Watterson guy and his comics are really funny! What amazing is that I think his comics aren’t just for little kids and have a lot of do with advanced topics for adults. I’m surprised there’s barly merchandise of his comics. Now I figured out the meaning of those stickers I see on so many cars.

I totally agree. I think if any of us invented a new device or found a new patent but a powerful corporation took a huge part of your profits, you would be very upset as well right?
