CHP salvaged vehicle inspection, also brake and light inspection question

Indicators are a requirement for the BRAKE and LAMP inspection the CHP vin verification is a separate deal.

You need your turn signals.

I'm confused..... as normal....

The lights just need to work, not the instrument cluster. As long as the turn signals work, you should be fine.

yeah its just the instrument cluster that doesn't, and the shop said i should get that and license plate lamps fixed before i have them do the inspection; i also have integrated signals in the back not sure if those are illegal

The integrated signals will be a problem. That will not allow you to pass CHP inspection.

FYI the inspection stations are turning you away if the high beam indicator or turn signal indicator is inoperable

We, CHP Officers, are not going to sign off on a vehicle inspection that is in gross violation of the vehicle code, ie: integrated turn signals.

You'll need:

Stock turn signals.
License plate light
Red reflector
License plate holder, in correct location.
One mirror.

Make the bike as close to stock as possible.

weird, i know there's the 9-inch rule, but I question to how they claim these are 'dot-compliant';

or is it a lie?

I could imagine those might be DOT compliant tail/brake lights, just not turn signals.

Curt, the thing is, CHP has the salvage verifications consolidated to a few out posts and a few officers in California now. Think about these guys, they hear every story, how great a deal the bike was, what the accident that took the bike out was, how these aftermarket supposedly DOT compliant signals should pass....
Just put the stock stuff on get it signed off then....
Easy peasy

yeah im not too handy with a wrench so i dont know what i'd need other than the stock signals and whether or not that would fix the indicators. im not too worried about chp inspection rather than brake and light, hopefully someone would sell and help me install the lights @ my preferred budget.
