Seeing if anyone is capable of anyone knows a CHP officer that can help me out with a vin verification for my cafe racer. DMV says it must be CHP because there is no record on file. I am more than happy to compensate someone for their time and can drive the bike to you. I live in Sacramento currently. Please pm me!

CHP is only scheduling apps for January from my local office before anyone asks

You need a Vin Verification REG 343 or a CHP 97C?

I can't match any of those numbers. They gave me a form reg 124 for the CHP officer to fill out.

Having had numerous motos verified by CHP, I can say that 2 month wait for an appointment sounds about right. They (the CHP) can also be very fussy if you try to use a field office outside of the area where you live, but worth a try. Don't worry about getting the correct form(s) from DMV, the CHP inspection officer should have the correct forms.

Ask to get on the cancelation list. People cancel these appointments regularly and they will offer the spot to people on their list.

Was it previously registered out of state?
Mine was so I had to go to a CHP station in Pleasanton specifically.
If it is a CA bike you might want to shop around. The station next to my house ( Whipple in Hayward) had appointments 1 1/2 week out.

Having done this twice previously w/no problem; thought I'd mention I just rode into my local office. I had totaled/pretzeled 2 frames racing @ Sears, so found deals on new frames (1980's.) After building, rode them into local CHP office (Hayward.)

They had to mount a new vin. metal plate to one frame, no biggie. On the other years later, they decided to stamp the vin on the frame/motor plate already (in./on) the frame. 20 minutes, done.

Neither was a biggie....don't know why you need appointment; busier these days? I just rode in on both race bikes. ..:thumbup :teeth

I got it down to December 6th. Tried riding into two different offices and called every CHP office around but they all said they cannot help me and that only my closest CHP office can do the verification. Guess I will just have to wait.

Do you know any CHP officers? Any CHP officer can do the inspection, not just the ones at the office.
