Chrome, Flash, and Mac OSX

10.6.8 wasn't Lion, it was Snow Leopard. The appstore was released for the first time with the later versions of Snow Leopard; it didn't exist in Leopard. If you clicked on an appstore link within the OS to start the download, you had to have been on Snow Leopard already.

Well there ya go. :laughing

This.

Looking at the requirements I SHOULD be ok to upgrade all the way. It's an aluminum 2008 MacBook Pro, 4gb of ram, plenty more than 8gb free still.

Then go for it. No reason not to. People are being charged $15 - $30 for that Snow Leopard update (the DVD you need to call about), and then you can download the mountain lion update directly from the appstore for $20. It'll fix your Chrome issue, along with a few hundred other bits and bobs that will only improve your laptop.

There is a website about a pirate ship on a bay which is now actually the cloud. You may want to try shopping there.

Up to 10.8.2. WTF is up with my mouse now not wanting to navigate webpages? I checked every mouse configuration I can find and my 2 thumb buttons SHOULD be back/forward, but when I hit those buttons it brings up widgets instead of navigating.

I'm on a 6-year-old iMac, the Snow Leopard upgrade is like $25 which is a bargain because it compiles two *major* upgrades that formerly cost like $150 into one inexpensive $25 purchase.

(I've been using this stuff since System 6). :laughing

Apple II+, noobs. :)

(but between the 3 of us, we still haven't offered the OP a whit of help with his mouse issue!) :)

NorCal - I remember that my mousing was weirded out when I first went to Lion, but in the mouse settings there were enough options to get it back to normal for me. Are you using an aftermarket mouse with additional buttons? Is it possible they have a newer driver for Lion / Mountain Lion?

Downloading different version of logitech control center, standby will let you guys know if that works.

That was a novelty. NJY UR Oregon Trail.

Oregon Trail was the shit. Banker + lots of bullets, minimal food, expert fucking hunter. Admittedly I never played it long enough per sitting to complete a journey, I just had fun hunting and laughing at the damage reports after a failed river fording.
