"p.s II. Hang out in the library on sunny days early afternoon. This is where youll find beautiful and smart girls that are pleasing to the eye, smart, fun, and have good stuff to say. This is how they seperate themselves form slutty, dumb, communications majors."
LOL wow ok. Well I am a Coms major(graduating with a PR degree in the Spring) and I know there are a lot of pretty girls in Coms but that doesn't mean they are slutty or dumb. I think that is a very ungentlemanly thing to say.
Coms includes very interesting subjects like politics, culture, rhetoric, and forensics. Also, who do you think does crisis management for corporations? When accountants, executives, and employees start
making mistakes, the CEO usually has to call up someone that graduated with a Coms degree. That person comes out with a pretty smile and some encouraging words to help spread goodwill throughout the masses. PR can make or break a company in a crisis. You have to have more than book smarts for that

Look at Tiger Woods.....
Now in response to the OP, you should drink when you feel comfortable and ready to. You should be able to have fun with or without alcohol. If someone needs alcohol, chances they are a hot mess. Don't drink if you do not want to. Nothing is worth your own character.
I understand that it might be irritating to always hear about other people and their partying but you have to kick back on that. It is a typical college thing to do and chances are some of those people aren't as happy as they appear.
On a medical level, drinking is a lot worse than most people think. I have worked in rehab for psychiatric patients and many people have become ill from alcohol. Surprising? Before going into the field, I thought drugs for the most part did that. Now I know alcohol is just as bad if not worse. Alcohol is less expecting so people over do it. I had quite a few clients that pickled their brains because of excess drinking, not to mention alcohol induced Dementia. So you and everyone else...beware!
