College Drinking

candy mountain!

Well more power to you! :thumbup

You know whats even worser-er?! Friends having liver meltdown well before 40 yrs old! Now they have to go all the way to the cave on candy mountain to get another one. Moderate weed smoking might be a better bet...

The big thing we hated about UCSB college life was the goal of having fun.

Normal people have a goal of seeing one another, having good conversation/event, and having a few drinks to loosen up and be more open.

We hated college life cuz the goal was to get fucked up. That was the plan for the eveneing. Priority one was to get piss drunk and then if something else fun came along that was extra.

p.s II. Hang out in the library on sunny days early afternoon. This is where youll find beautiful and smart girls that are pleasing to the eye, smart, fun, and have good stuff to say. This is how they seperate themselves form slutty, dumb, communications majors.

What school you going to?
Other dude from SB, what year did you graduate? Whatcha study?

Graduated in 04, BS Zoology. Lots of cool science chicks in my classes, some even pretty cute ones:thumbup.

08, Econ. NO HAWT CHICKS in the accounting association....warn your friends. I spent a lot of time in the Communications dept to get my fix.

dirty 30's of Oly, Hamms or Lucky Lager were normally on sale just across the Idaho border at the Winco for a mere $5.99, good times.

I miss Lucky Lager :cry

I worked at a liquor store throughout college and took advantage of the employee discount. Wrote my best papers with a slight buzz.

anyone can have fun without drinking,

but why start a fire with rocks when they invented matches?

We would also get the Luck grenades sometimes. Those, Oly stubbies and Rainier longnecks had the puzzle caps. :cool

The puzzles were the best part! Every so often I pick up some Oly just for kicks. Sometimes I really miss the Northwest.

Edit: Just checked the weather up there, don't miss it so much now.

LOL wow ok. Well I am a Coms major(graduating with a PR degree in the Spring) and I know there are a lot of pretty girls in Coms but that doesn't mean they are slutty or dumb. I think that is a very ungentlemanly thing to say.

Coms includes very interesting subjects like politics, culture, rhetoric, and forensics. Also, who do you think does crisis management for corporations? When accountants, executives, and employees start making mistakes, the CEO usually has to call up someone that graduated with a Coms degree. That person comes out with a pretty smile and some encouraging words to help spread goodwill throughout the masses. PR can make or break a company in a crisis. You have to have more than book smarts for that :) Look at Tiger Woods.....

Now in response to the OP, you should drink when you feel comfortable and ready to. You should be able to have fun with or without alcohol. If someone needs alcohol, chances they are a hot mess. Don't drink if you do not want to. Nothing is worth your own character.

I understand that it might be irritating to always hear about other people and their partying but you have to kick back on that. It is a typical college thing to do and chances are some of those people aren't as happy as they appear.

On a medical level, drinking is a lot worse than most people think. I have worked in rehab for psychiatric patients and many people have become ill from alcohol. Surprising? Before going into the field, I thought drugs for the most part did that. Now I know alcohol is just as bad if not worse. Alcohol is less expecting so people over do it. I had quite a few clients that pickled their brains because of excess drinking, not to mention alcohol induced Dementia. So you and everyone else...beware!

Interesting choice of words...

Yes, well like when the Domino's employees did that disgusting behavior and uploaded it to youtube....that was a mistake. It was an isolated mistake and a PR team with a Coms degrees had to make a crisis communication plan. The CEO came out and executed that plan and the company is working on rebuilding its name. I believe, though am not certain, that some of the new marketing you see from Dominos (admitting mistakes and poor quality, promising to make changes) comes from that youtube crisis.

helping out at the club kinda made me veer away from alcohol....seeing it and smelling it every week made it kinda "bleh"

Incidence of alcoholism is about 15%. Heavy college drinkers have about double the risk. The price of alcoholism is usually NOT a new liver. It's far more often divorce, fucked up families, expensive DUI's, job problems and less well known health problems like neuropathy and brain damage. It may take decades or months to experience the consequences, but no alcoholic gets off scot-free.
