Concealed Weapons Permit in CA?

I've heard from several people that if you apply for a license and get turned down, then you have a black mark on your record for any future application - is there any truth to this?

Yes, it could be held against you. The application asks if you have ever applied for, and been denied, a CCW.

This page seems to have a lot of useful information, including a PDF of the standardized California CCW application. I would check the web site out before applying.

I applied in SF a while back. Their answer? "We do not have a policy on CCW, therefore, fuck off peasant". Which is bullshit, since it was known that dipshit Hennessy did issue permits. CGF send them a nice letter and policy appeared. Good for a year and cost over $2K. Assholes

If memory serves me correct carrying a loaded gun and having it concealed is a misdemeanor so in my mind just do it but don't get caught with a concealed knife cause that is a felony.

Illegal CC is a wobbler. The general rule-- as one lawyer confirmed to me-- is that if the gun is registered to the person carrying it, chances are it will be charged as a misdemeanor on first offense. Unregistered/stolen/etc., felony charge.

Being a wobbler though, I'm not sure what's to stop a vindictive DA from pursuing a felony charge, registered or not.

My quick research tonight has led me to the conclusion that the Sheriff of Sacramento County does not issues CCW's (a couple of dozen so far, but I am sure those were close friends, relatives, contributors, etc).

Ugh!

Sac County is a shall issue county. I know of two CCW holders on my block. You must live in an unincorporated area to apply for a CCW through Sac Sheriff. The biggest hold up is the waiting period for processing, backgrounds and interviews.

PM me if you'd like more info/want to talk to a CCW instructor (not me).

For like $5-10K you can join the good ole boy club aka TheCoCoSO Posse and you are a shoe-in for a CCW.:|

Its much faster and less expensive to be connected to and providing campaign funds to an elected official in LaMOrinda. :mad

At least you guys have options. I know the Sherriff of San Francisco himself and I ain't getting even a quick consideration for a permit.

Punch him in the taco. I've met Ross when he was on the Board of Stupidwisers. What an asshole.

Well here you go contact the Sacramento shariffs dept website!http://www.sacsheriff.com/organization/office_of_the_sheriff/ccw.cfm follow the procedure. i was on the list for sixteen months before being called! i went through the first interview then you get your live scan completed and take a CCW course notify the Sheriffs dept and get on the list for a second interview. Those slots are currently filled im still trying to schedule my interview for two months now! but is doable. One of my fellow employees actually got his permit issued! so it is possible it just takes time and patience.
The operation is only manned by part time employees so pleae take a number and wait and wait and wait!
