Covid Most Common Cause of Death for 24-44 Year-olds

Then there’s the inconvenient fact that there are more Covid deaths in 2021 v 2020.
So more people have died in the age of vaccines than in the age of none.

That's a good way to piss off everyone working hard to get the world vaccinated. I couldn't get my first dose until April. When did you get yours? Not to mention, poorer countries still have little supply.

The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine recipients had a mortality rate of 4.2 deaths per 1,000 vaccinated people per year after first dose, and 3.5 deaths after second dose.
The unvaccinated comparison group had a mortality rate of 11.1 deaths per 1,000 people per year.

Moderna COVID-19 vaccine recipients had 3.7 deaths per 1,000 people per year after the first dose, and 3.4 deaths after the second dose.

Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine recipients had 8.4 deaths per 1,000 people per year.
The unvaccinated comparison group had a mortality rate of 14.7 deaths per 1,000 people per year.

What more is there to say?

.

Who the fuck is that asshat in the video? Tie is too short, poorly tied, talks like a dipshit and has way to many letters at the end of his name. I don’t trust him.

We know that you have to have the vaccine available and be willing to take it to make it work. Other counties are having issues with vaccine rates and people with comprised immune systems and no vaccine are factories for new variants that will eventually spread around the world.

That's particularly true in regions of Africa, where HIV has ravaged the population, mutation factories as you say. Plus a lack of infrastructure to get vaccines distributed. This is going to be a long haul.

:laughing That's quite a reaction.

Purely ignorant statement.

Lockdowns and no vaccine versus some vaccine, Delta variant, few lockdowns and anti-vaxers is the real story here.

But don't let the facts get in the way of your agenda.

Don't confuse people with the facts. It only makes their heads swell and sting.

No one sees any problem or reason to question this?

I am curious what a scientist like Dr SLO would say aboutthe presentation of this data.

I think the data is a bit sensationalized since the "leading cause" was a single brief spike. Also WTF is "greatest relative increase.." relative to what?

That said, I did look at the underlying numbers and the high level claim (it's not just old people dying) seems accurate.

I hope everyone is appropriately skeptical of data summarized on the internet.

A couple of observations:
-Texas is the 2nd most populous state.
-Texas has been more relaxed than other states on health measures and has lead to reaching capacity of the health care systems.
-Covid reaching #1 cause of death was only for 1 quarter
-Its interesting that accidents went up since we were to be at home playing it safe early on in the pandemic.
-Excess death data confirms the Covid epidemic
-Data that shows vaccines working
-Less deaths during early social distance time than right before the vaccines when things were more open
-Inequality highlighted
-Meatpacking super spreader sources confirmed.

Whew! I am glad that people are still skeptical.

With videos like this that seem so convincing I think even the most rational person would accept it as gospel. Put a guy with a bunch of academic accomplishments resulting in the alphabet following his name, have him present with clear and concise “data” in a very articulate manner and the credibility factor is incredible.

The first thing my brain said (besides the alarm on his hard “relative” pronounciation) was “Why 25-44?”

My undergrad work was an emphasis on animal behavior. I thought it was what I wanted to do until I realized it was endless hours recording and tabulating data. What I learned was that I could present ANYTHING the way I wanted to by shifying time periods, cherry picking studies and behavoirs.

There has been a lot of this during the pandemic, the current one being “omicron is in 1/3 of the USA now” without addressing the rammifications such as how it is affecting the population.

“There is a three fold increase in cases in Bumfuck County” but the data is that threebpeople have covid, up from one.
It is factual but the presentationis extremely misleading.

Agreed.

Too often, during this pandemic, there has been disingenuous statements made by people with an agenda. Technically, they are correct (i.e. High numbers of deaths in Texas, but leaving out the fact that it's the 2nd most populous state in the nation) but they are intentionally leaving out the context, same with other ways that the data has been misused.

I never give a source a second chance when they have obviously skewed data by misrepresenting it. Fuck them.

I think the take away on my side is the base death rate of that age group has risen due to covid. Where it stands compared to accidents is the sensationalism aspect, but it is a factor to be aware of.

Without googling it, Ithink the leading cause of death in or around that age group was 46% from accidents.
One could, after watching that video, assume covid deaths are around 50% if you just glance at it.

I would like them to pull together the same data for California since California has been more strict with health measures than Texas.
