Figured that as a fat fuck I should weigh in on a topic close to my heart - buffets. There is a good new on on El Camino near Wolf - Crazy Buffet. Seems stronger than Todai with respect to Chinese although both are a little disappointing with the Sushi.

Anyone have any opinions on local Asian buffets?

I like to hit the Todai in Cupertino, grab two fistfulls of sashimi, rub it all over my chest, throw my head back and yell at the mortified patrons,

"I'm DEAD SEXY!!! LOOK at my SEXY BAWDAAAYYYY!!!!"

Sometimes I can do this three or four times before being physically removed from the premises. Sometimes I go straight for the dessert section. Other times I'll grab a couple of those crab shell things and make them talk to each other like puppets. The kids get a kick out of that last one.

P.S. I don't give a shit if the mojo fairies like this post or not. :| :twofinger

Ontopic: I liked Moon Star Buffet on Market at 8th in SF. They have that crazy durian ice cream. Haven't been there in a couple of years though. Truth be told buffets aren't really my thing. :barf

Korea House's lunch buffet near El Camino & San Tomas is pretty good.

Benihana's all you can eat sushi for ~$26 is good IMO. They have it for dinner, not sure about lunch.

I'd ride down to Cupertino to see that. And maybe some potstickers too.

to me, any buffet is a good buffet. mainly because i am a black hole for food with taste standards lower than that of we hold education here in this country. i've been to todai's and have to admit that it is among the best of buffet's i've had. gotta love the lobster.

crazy buffet huh? haven't been there, but seems interesting. i CAN say though, the buffet joint right off 280 and saratoga, by the garden city casino ain't all that great.

most asian buffets are dirty, overpriced, or nasty just like their massage parlors

Who's complaining?

There's a little hole in the wall place called Better Bento's in Sunnyvale that I personally go to once a week. Good selection and fair prices.

I still haven't found a good ramen place though.

Buffet's are scary. Bleh-quality food and little kids coughing all over the food.

I drive past the Crazy Buffet you mention, on occasion. With all the balloons and the droves of people, it sure looks crazy! :p

IMO, the only good buffet is at the Palace Hotel on Sundays in SF. Well, the Park Hyatt is good also.

yes, they are dirty. my stomach burns after half an hour of eating all that msg.

I liked california buffet in sunnyvale the last time i went. Not sure how i'd like them now though.

Don't ever go to Moonstar Buffet in SF. I went there once, food was ehh....i get home and i'm sicker than a dog. I Do some websurfing....find out KPIX (i think) did a story on the dirtiest places to eat in the city.....moonstar being #2. They've had multiple violations for rat droppings on the counters and unsafe food storage.

The story wasn't just (we walked in and it looked dirty). They tallied up the most and worst violations from food and health.

You can search on restaurants before going =)

my exmother in law would bring a large purse so she can steal more food at an all you can eat buffet....

Mountain View has two good ramen shops, Ryowa and (my favorite) Maru Ichi. I recommend the tonkotsu.

I agree. It's a food poisoning disaster waiting to happen. But places that have a high turn over of food like todai aren't that bad. Indian Buffets are pretty good as the food is hot and hopefully the germs die from the heat.

OH.
MY.
GOD!

This is awful. In the 5 years I've worked in the Financial district, so many restaurants I patronize have health code violations. ALL of the chinese/asian places I frequent had voilations... :wow :wow :wow

That New Asia chinese fast-food place in the Crocker Galleria gave me food poisoning, and now I know why. They've got some serious health violations.

:barf :barf :barf
