I'm on vacation right now for the whole month of May... haven't been home in about 3 years and just been given the break I needed after being recently laid off my job. My dad and sister has been bitten by the 2 wheel bug and I got the chance to finally share the passion for rideing with them since I've started bout 2 yrs ago.

Sorry, not to hijack, but where did you guys rent your motos at and how much? How about renting gear? My gf and I are planning to go in a few weeks and wanted to ride around. We are also probably going to Oahu.

That said, looks like you guys had a blast!
 
My original plan was to rent an r6 for a day but found out my uncle had a CBR 1000rr that he didn't mind lending me. he said a case of beer and a full tank upon returning the bike in 1 piece and I can ride it any time!

:2cents as far as gear goes... it's not required by law for riders over 18yrs passengers/drivers to wear a helmet but riders are required to wear some kind of eye protection.. glasses, goggle etc. :eek:)

althought I'm religious about wearing leathers and a full face helmet, feeling the breeze in your hair is a very exhilarating experience. If I were to crash and split my brain open I would probably die a happy man knowing I was doing what I love :teeth

Growing up on both Oahu and the Big Island, Hawaii will forever be my home. With that said; the riding there looks horrible. When I go back, I see nothing but squidly out of control riders. :laughing Not really their fault, there isn't any great roads/tracks to learn how to ride on.

The only road course in Hawaii was in Oahu (Hawaii Raceway Park) and it closed in 2006.

Kalaeloa Raceway Park is the former Hawaii Raceway Park but with further development for dirt track, drag racing and an additional oval track. If the road course is ever improved/developed it will most likely allow motorcycles but even then it will be a very short course. As with everything in Hawaii (except for golf courses :rolleyes) land is limited and the road course will never be anything as compared to even the smallest track in the Mainland. But anything is better than nothing. There has been a lot of lobbying for Kalaeloa to stay as it was going to be torn down and used for industrial purposes (new warehouses etc.).

Brah! It would be pretty nuts if they had one road track there. I miss all da grinds and shrimp trucks aaah broke da mouth you know da kind ah. When I get one chance I going ride up there too bra. Drag knee from sandy's to Hawaii kai! LOL! Ka'huku get some mean dirt biking areas with trails and two race tracks. Oahu will always be my stomping grounds. Cheeeeee Whooooooo!
 
no tracks on big island AFAIK, only a drag strip in hilo i think. oh, and cant forget the "outlawz" racing circuit that took place at various spots around the island lol.

they really do need a track there to give local auto adrenalined kids somethin to do besides get squirrely on ali'i drive...

those poor, poor front forks! made me cringe to watch them set those wheelies down that hard. ouch....
