Does anyone know a provider in the bay area that does custom seat re-upholstery?

I would like to add some height to my seat, maybe change the shape slightly so its less angled, and then re-upholster.

I'm not sure if I should just call up random auto upholstery stores, find a specialist online, or try to find someone local

I've never used them, but I've heard nothing but good things.

Corbin did the seat on my 81, 650 G Suzuki many years ago. They cut out the old foam, added new foam, raising the height, let me take it for a test ride, let me shape it with an electric carving knife and a course file and then stitched up a new cover. All while I waited. Then I simply rode home with my new seat.

Call them and see if they still do that.

If you go with Corbin, arrange to ride to Hollister and they'll custom fit the seat to your backside. I ordered a Corbin seat back in the day for my Ducati Monster. I got their standard seat, but if I were to do it again, I would have them make it about two inches higher and put the little Italian flag on both sides.

Cutting and gluing foam, isn't hard to do, but intimate foam knowledge, is a thing.
Living in Havasu with a ton of boat upholsterers, I found out there is "boat foam " and "upholstery foam"
Blending that is needed. U foam is soft, meant to be multi layered, B foam is meant to use and survive from a hard surface. I butt tested foam, placed on a fork of a fork lift, shopping different thickness/latex blends.
and
I have done the Corbin thing twice, two motors.

Corbin won't modify your seat. They'll only custom fit one of their seats to your ass.

You’re on the right track thinking about going beyond just a basic upholstery shop—what you’re describing falls more into the realm of custom seat modification, not just a re-cover.

You don't say which bike but one approach is to buy a second seat (used) and modify that one so as to not tie up your bike.
For height changes I do it to the bottom of the foam so that the cover still fits with no special talent required. Any shop can add a couple of inches to the bottom of the fabric and re-staple the cover on.
