anyone ever heard of the DB4000DY?

supposed to be on sale in the EU, and cheaper and have better performance than comparable Surron models?

have a friend from China who was offered a job helping get the DB4000DY into the USA market. she sent me the pics, but says she “can’t disclose” the manufacturer, yet. she is not a motorcycle person. :laughing

They are somewhat common now and readily available. I've seen a few. The actual branding of that bike is the Talaria XXX.

Talaria's been on the US market for a few years now so not sure what more "help" they could possibly need, maybe your friend is just being scammed.

That second pictures looks like the Talaria XXX

The first picture looks like a Talaria MX3 or MX4

I'll give her a heads up about holding on to her own money. she was a finance person, so I'm guessing she already knows that, but who knows. good advice never goes astray, hopefully. :laughing

guessing her main attraction is she speaks the lingo in China, and speaks English, and it's an e-moto company seeking to increase market share in the USA.

she seems to think the Talaria bikes are cheaper and better performing than the comparable Surron models. which sounds like a suspicious sales-puffery claim to me. any truth to it? is Talaria in any position to increase their market share in the USA, easily?

I don't know enough about either to be honest.

My understanding is they are pretty comparable in price and performance. Both are well-established.

The XXX I think is a very small and low-performing bike and meant more for teens that ride on the streets and small trails.

i don't even know much about the market but this strikes me as "toyota tercel is better than nissan (honestly don't know what their tercel competitor is)"

So a lot of these small hybrid mtb/motorcycle electric dirtbikes are copies of the Sur Ron. The Sur Ron was THE FIRST to create this type of bike. I guess Zero had something similar a while back but it never caught on like the Sur Ron did. I've owned a Light Bee since 2018 and there were no other bikes like this then. If you look at the Talaria it's literally the same bike as the Sur Ron, like the way the battery positioning, mid drive motor, suspension, linkage, etc... it's like a ripoff of the Sur Ron. The biggest difference of the Talaria is the primary drive which is a gear box vs the Sur Ron's chain gear reduction system.

Look at the Rawr Mantis it's very similar as well.

So is this new ERide Pro that is coming out. They're all ripoffs of the Sur Ron.

When you see everyone comparing these bikes to the Sur Ron, like Sur Ron Killer, etc... is because Sur Ron was the first to make this bike and make it popular.

Think of it like comparing an AK47 to Type 56. It's the same bike or template just different company manufacturing it. The Chinese are great at copying stuff. I also heard that the founder of Talaria used to work at Sur Ron.
