A much bigger concern when drinking from outdoor water fountains.

I couldn't care less about the dog drinking from it but for fear of the above mentioned act I avoid outdoor water fountains. (Might not be the case at the track though)

It's not even the germ danger that annoys me, it's the whole "I'm too burdened to carry a bowl for my dog, that's too much work. Fuck everyone else, I'm looking out for numero uno" attitude.

Why even bother holding doors open for people, if you're going to have that attitude.

+1. Even setting aside any disagreement regarding the dirtiness of a dog's mouth, it's simple common courtesy. This is a public drinking fountain; even if you don't find it gross, you should take into consideration other people's feelings. It really is that simple.

Since it happens less frequently than a dog drinking out of one, or smokers tossing their butts, I should be good to go. :thumbup

This thread has taken some odd turns, and none of them are good. Yes, the mods are here. Life has the potential to get sucky for everyone very quickly here on teh BARFs if things keep going like they are.
 
I'd like to know which park you were in where you found a working drinking fountain. Every time I go to use a public fountain they're either disconnected or crammed with so much garbage that they're unusable. :dunno :laughing

I don't have an issue with it. I said many do, and it's ironic that you're defending an act many find disgusting, while complaining about an act YOU find disgusting.
Since so many people find a dog drinking directly from a fountain to be rude and somewhat anti-social, will you change your behavior to accommodate the general public, or will you say "fuck them, I'll throw my cigarette butt on the ground"?

Now do you see my point?
