I want to get speed tv and the regular basic tv channels(not many movie channels). What is the better to get for signal and price? Thanks

Sergio

I had great luck with our digital cable provider....cheap and excellent quality. Sat sucks get the cable

cable providers vary widely in content, price and quality. Nice thing about cable, no long term commitment. Most satellite plans require a monthly contract deal, specially if you get the hardware cheap.

Try your cable for image quality and programming, then compare it to satellite.

do you have a HDTV ready set? HDTV signals are available OTA (over the air) as well as satellite. Dont know if they are available via cable in your area.
If you dont have HDTV set, but plan on it in the next year or so, also consider that in your plans.

You can get only 4 local channels in HDTV over the air and only after six at night. For HDTV a Off Air antenna is needed to get signal. Now since Sutro tower is being EarthQuake retro fitted you can get only a couple HD channels at night, that's when they turn it back on. As far a Cable go's their service is ok but inferior to SAT. They have come out with new HD technoligy for Comcast and it's ok. You best bet is to go Direct TV.
Their selection of channels is unmatched. Good rates HD and digital quilty channels for all the progamming. If you need some forther help feel free to PM me and I can give you a good deal on either cable or SAT. Peter- Direct Home Services.

Oh I forgot about the New company we support. VOOM 36 HD channels feel free to check out the web they have all kinds of info on it. And yes Speed is in HD

Dish Network with DVR. Nothing like being able to watch Yates throw a tantrum over and over. Saves you the trouble of buying a Tivo too.]

By the way, I've had digital cable in LA, Seattle and Monterey, and in every place I've had a problem with compression artifacts.

FIVE bucks for Speed on Comcast if you
already have the digital cable upgrade.
:teeth

I got comcast just for speed.. yeah 5 bucks, the rest of the package is crap but 5 for speed is worth it. The quality sucks though... Its the same as regular cable.. i was like wtf? You just shackin up somewhere get digi cable.. you livin somewhere for good, just go for the contract and satilite.

what he said about the Dish Network with a DVR!
I had a DVR installed last weekend and it is the SHIT!
right now they are running a deal:
up to 4 rooms with installation FREEE!

call 1-800-333-DISH

dish sucks. Wait two weeks till TIVO comes out with thier HD unit then it will be the end to your DVR's and your Cable Boxs.

There are also a few other things to be aware of.

-Channel Guide
Every single cable channel guide that I have seen absolutely sucks. About 1/2 of the screen is filled with advertising and the information is rather limited. I've used both DirectTV and DishNetwork and they both have superb, commercial-free and fast channel guides.

-Speed/Audio/Video
One thing that I have noticed, is that changing channels with cable seemed to be as slow as molasses. While satelite can at times get slow, it has never been as slow, on average, as cable was. At the time that I bought my DirectTV, AT&T (now comcast) only offered standard stereo audio and s-vhs (rca) video outputs. I'm not sure about now but my DirectTV offered S-Video and optical Dolby Digital outputs. Also, quite a few movies were offered in DD on DirectTV.

lol i say get cable...at my job, we have satellite in the break room, but we can never watch tv cuz that shit always loses reception or something fucks up...

you guys actually pay for cable??:laughing

I'm not paying for some fucking airwaves, I'm getting FREE cable..

I like the guides on Direct TV, but am forced into cable right now.

I have DirecTV which I think is better then Dish Network, but I did get a streaming notice across the bottom of the screen yesterday that Dish may lose the feed to about 20 stations over fee issues.

Yeah, I heard that too. I have digital cable here. Kinda locked into it because of our place. No problems with it though. A little expensive, but I think anything that isn't free is expensive.
