Digital Timing Light: Actron vs Innova?

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has experience with either the Actron CP7529 or the Innova 3568 timing lights? It's time for me to invest in one, and I'm going with the digital so I can get the tach function (since the old '64 Honda doesn't have one).

They're almost the same price, Amazon reviews are about the same, and I can't really see a clear winner between the two. It's almost a coin toss for me at this point...

Anyone have any info that could help swing it one way or the other?

Thanks!

I have the Actron. It's OK. Just OK. The strobe is nice and bright. I looked at specs for the Innova you referred to. I would consider that one because it appears easier to aim and has dual readout for RPM and advance. The Actron you have to toggle. That said it appears the Actron is brighter and this is pretty important. Your going to be OK with either one but treat it right it's not a box wrench to be tossed in the drawer. I saw a lot of complaints on breakage and mine is doing fine so have to assume guys are tossing them around. If you want to do that buy a pro series one and pay the cost.

Also, be sure and power it by a donor battery, not the battery in the bike. JimE is correct on treatment of the thing to. You need to treat it like you borrowed it from some big mutha and you don't want to break it.
Mind the cords. Don't wind them around the light over and over, they will start to have shorts from the pulling and twisting at the point where they enter the housing.
I had an Actron forever. Worked fine.
