DMV fees issue

I've never paid the state shit for any of the ones I removed and kept. Still have all of them. :laughing
Just because you haven’t paid doesn’t mean you don’t owe…. But maybe you’ll stay lucky and CA will leave you alone 😂

They did for literally over 20 years...17 of which where I still lived in California. I can only assume they don't care. What the hell matters to them if they get back a piece of metal they're going to destroy anyway? The tag isn't current and that's what really matters anyway. There's literally tens of thousands of expired California plates roaming around the country that the state clearly doesn't care about. Some are even being sold online. It's not that serious.

I've used the kiosks several times and the only extra fees I paid were for using a credit card. The renewal fee matched the notice exactly. Has the DMV changed the policy for kiosks in the past year?

dunno only one i (didn't end up) used was in a AAA office when i didn't want to wait in the line. the reception person said there were extra fees so i waited in the line

How odd to have one in the AAA office! I've only ever seen them in grocery stores or a DMV office foyer.

Did the AAA receptionist say the extra fees went to the DMV and not AAA?

IIRC, the fees are for processing the credit card. 2.X % or so. with the AAA office here, though, potentially worth a couple dollars to not have them screw up my address yet again.

This should cover it:
So basically it's on her to keep track of whether she's paying for the plate? I mean, I've offered to return it, but she's not returning my calls (I offered to drop it off with her in Brentwood). So at this point I'll just hold onto it and if she gets in trouble for not paying a fee or not returning it, she can contact me...
