Do CA plates have "zeros"?

My car was hit by a car with the license plate "LUV DECO"

I'm not certain whether that last letter is the letter "O" or the number "0" (zero).

Is there a way to find out? (Driver drove away, all I have is the plate).

No. The plate on my Monster (97 M900) looks like zeros but I was told by the DMV that no plates contain zeros. Everything is just O's.

I have zeros on my truck's plate, it ends in a 002 :dunno

Different vehicle types have different sequences of numbers and letters. No "zeros" in license plates would be news to me. If I saw an "O" or "0" in a certain location on a certain type of plate, I would know which it is.

Now, I do believe there are no "Oh's" in VIN numbers. I believe those are all "zeros". Even if you put in an "Oh", the computer return will show as a "zero" typed in...IIRC, been a few years since I dispatched a lot.

If its a personal plate its an "Oh." A normal plate can contain a "zero." Anything in a VIN is a zero.

I should've elaborated more. This is what I meant. The O.P. was making reference to a vanity plate which only have "O"'s.

Maybe it's changed, but before I got the bike, I checked out "K1200 GT" and it was available. Zero's, and Oh's. Now, maybe the DMV page used to check availablity isn't in step with plate issuance (one hand of the government not knowing what the other is doing??? Ha!).

If you look carefully, the zero is more like two parenthesis joined together, while the Oh is more like an un-banked Nascar race track.

Also, it doesn't really matter: there is no LUVDEC0 (zero) in the BAR system, so I'd assume its a unique plate.

And on the DMV website, you can't select zero in a custom plate.

pro-tip: if you are going to commit hit and run, don't have a memorable custom licence plate :laughing

I have seen this car in my neighborhood, as I distinctly remember that plate! Weird. Hope everything works out okay with you.

Well she decided to change her mind, lie, and have her insurance company deny the claim. Looks like I have to take her to small claims.

Anyone have some pro-tips for small claims?

Look to see what NoLo press has on small claims court cases.

File a police report? Hit & run = felony, correct?
