Do motorcycle shops.............

consider yourself lucky, my coworker jsut took in her daughters car for a oil change,

4x days later her driveway is covered in oil, and the car is missing literally 1qt of a oil

she rolls it back into the shop, NOW they tell her the oil drail bolt was tampered with, been helicoiled and threadinserted abuncha times and they are not at fault for doing it, the leak that they caused (last ppl who touched it- she has owned car for over 6 months with 0 leaks) has to be repaired by paying for a entire NEW OIL PAN ~ $500 for parts and labor

she brought it to me, i inspected it, they did not attempt to helicoil or put thread inserts in, yes the last thread is stripped therefor the oil drain plug does not tighten down all the way correctly and jsut keeps spinning on last thread, i got a oversized drain bolt for $6 threaded it on, problem solved

$500 dollar problem solved with a $6 solution, yes i was a mercedes technician, anytime we are servicing the car and we come across something that is not apparent in our work order, work gets stopped you communicate with the service writer what you see - they contact the customer and you proceed from there, it is NEVER ALLOWED to just go ahead and repair/replace stuff WITHOUT CUSTOMER APPROVAL, this shop should have stopped the oil change - communicate with the customer that the oil plug is not being tightened down and give her options as to what to do, not slim shady put it back on not even tightened down and send her off leaking oil everywhere....... fukn loosers - a nice letter to BAR will wake them up.

your $200+ out of pocket needs to be clearly explained by the service advisor, and if was work peformed out of scope of your signed work order - you should be getting it for free or at a heavily discounted rate.

I don't think naming names will serve any purpose.

Yes it will. If it was either of those guys, neither of them are new. Both have been with that dealer since at least 2009. I'm not trying to throw them under the bus, just trying to ascertain if it was indeed a new guy or the same guys trying to pull the wool over your eyes.

FWIW, I had a similar situation happen a couple times with my Triumph at that dealer.

His name was Robert Paulson.

The gentleman we dealt with is new

Interesting timing. I just had a pair of less-than-stellar experiences at the same place. Nothing huge, just a random (M10) bolt I found wedged in my bash plate later and the new service writer really didn't have a clue what they were going to do during the service. The previous experience, I had to get rear wheel bearings replaced due to notchiness and when I checked a day or two ago, while changing my rear tire, I found that they only did 2 out of the 3, and the 3rd is notchy. I would complain, but I really don't want to send my bike back there. Time to try another dealer, I guess.

Normally, everything's been good, in the past, but this last time made me uneasy.

Wonder what changed recently...
