Do You Mountain Bike?

Too many trails in the Bay Area to list. Check out MTBR.com for trail reviews:

http://trails.mtbr.com/cat/united-s...ia-trails/california-bayarea/PLS_4519crx.aspx

You can sort by city then click on the trail name. There are local reviews, by riders, for the most popular trails and they usually include directions to the trail-head.

If you really want to take your friends for some epic MTB rides go to Downieville or Northstar (assuming they will be here sometime after around May).

Thanks for the references, I'll check them out!

And Northstar is out as (a) it needs to be SF-local (at least in the bay area), and (b) they'll be here in March. :)

Downieville will also be out as it is on the way to North Lake Tahoe.

Soquel Demo Forest, in the South Bay, has some great single-track plus a lot of climbing. Lot's of good stuff over in Santa Cruz.

I haven't ridden in the North Bay but I believe there are a lot of rides around Marin, Sonoma, Mt. Tam, and lots in between.

Were the ceramic bearings a worthwhile upgrade?

For you DH barfers.....do you have any friends with Intense SOCOMs?? If so, are they running a Totem on the front? I'm thinking about going away from the WC and trying out the Totem. Was hoping to get some ideas.

I am running a Boxxer WC and was thinking about going to the Totem. Whether it be a Solo Air or Coil, I'm not sure yet...

Just asking and thanks....also, if you know of anyone that's looking for a hardtail DJ bike, I'm selling mine.

Thanks!!

Hey Tom,

I'm gonna merge this in with the Mtn Biking thread. But before I do, two spots that will work for you include:

- Tamarancho in Fairfax ($5 fee for trail use, goes to the Boy Scouts who maintain it)
- El Corte de Madera in La Honda (just north of Alice's)
- China Camp in San Rafael

Anything else is a little further out - Annadel State Park in Santa Rosa and Soquel Demonstration Forest near Santa Cruz are two destinations. The further you go, the better it gets :)

I can take you guys out on some trails in the Headlands. It is some hard climbing and if I do the short loop, it is about 20 miles. If you would like to go out before they get here let me know and I can take you.

1 1/2 loops of the main Boy Scout loop with a trip up Pine Mountain for a grand exit on Repack is the way to go out there :)

Any suggested east bay trials to check out? I have a year older Iron Horse Full suspension that has only seen pavement and wet grass.

Yody, I discovered access to what seems like a huge network of trails in our backyard. Let's go ride. I'll call you later this week. (Nothing technical, but a good way to get a good spin in)
