Hi!
I mountain bike in Marin, and am a volunteer with Marin Trail Stewards (formerly known as Access4Bikes), we build and maintain the trails at Tamarancho and elsewhere in Marin, as well as putting on two local races, group rides, etc. You can find about the org and check out our calendar and updated trail information here (the trails get closed when it is too wet, so always a good idea to check the socials when it had been raining)

It'll be a great day to ride Tamarancho! Please be sure to purchase a day pass at
https://www.boyscouts-marin.org/event/2026-friends-of-tamarancho-trails-day-pass/3126836 or you can pick one up at Split Rock Tap and Wheel, Sunshine Bikes, or the Marin Museum of Bicycling, which is also the home of the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame. You will often bump into some of the pioneers of our sport there.
You can park at Split Rock, where you can get your pass before your ride, then enjoy some fine food and beverage after your ride!
After you complete the main loop and are ready to head back to town you'll also to be able to check out the new Caballo Rojo trail.

I'd be happy to ride with you, but Saturday the 31st we're going to be riding up to the top of Mount Tamalpais to attend a "Site Walk" to assess some of the trails up there for potential bike access, which is pretty amazing after being pretty much limited to the fire roads on the Marin Municipal Water District watershed land for the last 30 years!
For anyone who wants to support more bike access in Marin and wants to attend, we're going to riding up from Deer Park in Fairfax, I plan to start at 7:45 to comfortably arrive a little early for the 9am event.
- Site Walk #1 – Saturday, January 31, 2026, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Meet-up location: The first site walk is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 31, from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., and the initial meeting location is near East Ridgecrest Boulevard and Airforce Throughway.
This first site walk will be focused on trails in the vicinity of the West Peak of Mt. Tamalpais. During the walk staff will discuss the environmental settings of the current road and trails, and consider existing uses, conditions, standards, and classifications as defined in the 2005 RTMP and explore updates forthcoming in the RTMP update. Bring water, wear layers, and hiking appropriate attire and shoes. Be prepared for a 1-2 mile hike with moderate elevation gains.
