Dodge/Ram Dealership (Sales) Referral

Also - I'd say go sit in similarly optioned F150 and Ram 1500 Laramie back to back. Or better yet take an F150 for a drive...over to the Dodge dealer lot and park them side by side so you can really compare. :laughing

I just did this (except didn't test drive them). The F150 is generally sold with a V6 turbo which makes me weary as who knows how well the turbo will hold up over 70k or 150k miles vs the dodge's Hemi.

I walked the dealers floor. I found a few things I was adamant about I'm not so sure I really like/need i.e.: Leather, sun roof, etc. The cloth seats in the FORD are way better than their leather. I wanted the Lariat but the XLT seemed sufficient. If I went with the dodge, I would get it fully optioned.

The stereo in the ford is disappointing for sure (especially coming from a Mark Levingston Lexus stereo). That's big thing for me, I love music and commute regularly with it.

EDIT***

After reading about the F150's EB V-6; I will be looking for a XLT 302a crew cab, (possibly standard bed). The fit and finish was superior and gave off that truck vibe with better numbers all the way around.

The Ford EcoBoost turbo engines are thoroughly mature and proven at this point. I was wary at first too.

The EcoBoost is a solid, reliable, powerful setup. It's better than the V8 in almost every way.

Almost.

If I bought a F-150, I would probably have to custom order it as most of the higher trim level models (Lariat, Limited, Platinum, King Ranch, etc) all have the EcoBoost optioned in as it's a relatively cheap option. Yup. Gimme all the bells and whistles. Just keep the stupid V6.

An American full size truck that doesn't have a proper V8 just doesn't feel right or sound right to me. Same reason why I would never ever want an EcoBoost Mustang either.

I HEARD*....

they need a timing chain around 100k, or 70 if you aren't lucky, and the water pump requires a lot more disassembly to get to when it's time.

not exactly big deals at 100k, but the v8 at least that junk is easier to service if it's needed at all.

*put "P0016 timing chain" in google, it's not a rumor

From my reading that problem was primarily for 2014 and older trucks. There was also something updated between the 2016 and 2017 that made the EB engines more reliable. Thanks for pointing this out. Makes me almost consider those BS extended warranties.

I got a quote from a dealer today for a XLT with Max tow package and the 302a package and FX4 package for $39k. I test drove the truck and it was fairly comfortable and quiet. The steering was a bit loose in the center compared to what I'm used to.

Also try Costco; you can contact various dealers thru them to see what they offer.

I just ordered a new F-150 through a Costco deal.

I'm pretty good at shopping dealers against each other, but the Costco here's a piece of paper with the price on it was at least $1000 better than the best I could haggle.

It can be but you have to hit the button every time. I just found a link that shows how to jump the wires so it is permanently disabled.

It can be done via software using FORScan as well, if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah. I'm still trying to get my head around a full size truck without a V8. But the extra 50-75 hp from a tune takes the sting right out of the lack of V8 sound for me. It was built on Friday, hopefully I don't regret it. :laughing

Care to share your cost, experience, and options?

The TT V6 puts or numbers better than about every other full size truck V8. They seem fairly well sorted now too.

Updated OP; seeking out Ford Dealers.
