Drive your damn Tesla

Elon Mengele-Musk just keeps gettin away with things because he's so fabulously wealthy and innovative. Brain implants in animals, exploding cars, flouting safety laws during a pandemic. And didn't you love the kabuki about movin to Texas?

It seems he can do no wrong. Or does with no consequences.

We're all just useful lab rats to him.

I'll just leave this here.

I am not sure where the owner of the company is at fault.

I will say with the progression of EV's onto our streets, that municipalities and fire departments will have to update their protocols, procedures, and equipment for future events. I am sure the future will bring more events like this one.

Zuckerberg's famous quote of "Go Fast and Break Things" is cute when you're a scrappy software startup. Not so much when people's lives are relying on your code for their safety.

How many more cars have to get blown up before he is? I truly don't think Musk gives a shit who dies from his projects. I doubt he's even interested in cars anymore, though...

Are you blaspheming our lord and savior, Elon?

I mainly don't like him, but you are making him sound more better.

Do you have any info about him working on Human Augmentations that ethicists find upsetting?

The article I read said that some animal science ethicists were against the chip thing. There were implications on expanding to human use, but to answer your question, no.

I think the guy is scary. He comes off as a stone-cold socio or psychopath. With money, lots of money.

Man, you are really selling me on this guy. :love

Nice try. Teslas are significantly safer than most cars on the road and are far less prone to vehicle fires too. Stop spreading FUD.

A self-driving car that bursts into flames and can be fooled into speeding with electricians tape. There is nothing to statistically compare with it anyway, is there?

i get some overall comparison with conventional vehicles but they are pretty different to begin with. There is a lot of undiscovered country involved in their piloting, or lack thereof. Meanwhile, onto semis, loaded with thousands of pounds of freight! Yay!

I will be blunt. I never supported self-driving cars and never will. Not because of Musk but just because I don't think we should go in that direction but the lobbyists won. He got his way. I know, get used to it okay Boomer.

"(S)ignificantly safer?" "(F)ar less prone?"

You spread fanboi propaganda, they spread FUD, it all evens out in the end. In any case Elon is no worse than many, many, many other captains of industry, and he's certainly nothing new.

BTW mrzuzzo, did you not get the Model S cheatcode that "helps" the system should all its occupants become disabled in a remote area? Or are the build guys still playing the "the first rule of S Club is..." silliness? Henrys Ford and Kaiser are spinning in their graves over the lost profits- nothing is as cool as cash.

.

It brings into question how safe these cars really are. Fuck, a car exploding on impact and the FD not being able to put out the fire for hours? Those bodies must've been reduced to ashes.

mildly related, but I like this quote from the CEO
https://spectrum.ieee.org/automaton...speed-boxunloading-robot-named-after-a-pickle

Machine learning algorithms, on both the perception and action sides of the story, are critical ingredients for making any of this work. However, even with them your engineering team still has to do a lot of problem solving wherever the AI is struggling. At some point you run out of engineering resources to solve all these problems in the long tail. When we talk about problems that require AI algorithms as capable as people are, we mean ones where the target on the reliability curve (99.99999% in the case of self driving, for example) is out of reach in this way. I think the big lesson from self-driving cars is that chasing that long tail of edge cases is really, really hard. We realized that in the loading dock, you can still deliver tremendous value to the customer even if you assume you can only handle 98% of the cases.

fully 100% self driving is really long off IMO. Tech companies could get to 95%, the next 4% will be crazy hard. That last 1%...unlikely IMO unless something totally new comes in, not AI or ML. Assisted driving is already here and has huge potential.
