And that's where motor officers come in, ideally.
We live next to the northern station traffic division HQ. I used to roll out on my FZ1 every morning with the motor shift on my way to work. Sitting behind 4-6 BMWs with cops riding them was slightly intimidating since my pipe was a tad loud.
Watching 3-4 people roll through the intersection on the solid-ass red, forcing the cops to check up, yet watching them fail to respond in any way, was disheartening.
Growing up in Marin with a lot of enforcement and we-know-who-you-are local PD forced me to be fairly observant of basic traffic laws. Coming to the big city and seeing this was seriously WFT.
There's a bit more of a moto culture here and nobody bats an eye at motos cutting across a sidewalk or jumping a medium unless they are inconvenienced. Motor cops actually wave and fully look the other way when you are geared up and riding a non-hooligan machine. At bike night LE often mingles with 1% types and they all seem pretty buddy buddy.

. Both the vehicles and pedestrians alike. It was common for all but the busiest of streets for pedestrians to cross whenever. Nevermind what the light says.
